Here's a proposal for the footer table:

Single line:

{| border=1
|+ ] (])
!align=center|Lines
!align=center|Previous Station
!align=center|Current Station
!align=center|Next Station
|-
|align=center|Red Line
|align=center|Rockville
|align=center|Twinbrook
|align=center|White Flint
|}

Multiple lines:

{| border=1
|+ ] (])
!align=center|Line
!align=center|Previous Station
!align=center|Current Station
!align=center|Next Station
|-
|align=center|Blue Line
|align=center|Arlington Cemetery
|rowspan=2 align=center|Rosslyn
|align=center|Foggy Bottom-GWU
|-
|align=center|Orange Line
|align=center|Court House
|align=center|McPherson Square
|}

Everything would be wikified except current station. In fact, I could see this being used to link systems together, as in this (fictitious) example

{| border=1
|+ ] (])
!align=center|Line
!align=center|Previous Station
!align=center|Current Station
!align=center|Next Station
|-
|align=center|Red Line
|align=center|Judiciary Sq
|rowspan=2 align=center|Union Station
|align=center|Rhode Island Ave
|-
|align=center|Amtrak Northeast Corridor
|align=center|Baltimore
|align=center|Richmond
|}

A style note - should the 'previous', 'next' be West-East or East-West? Usual notation is to do East-West, but I've always envisioned the Washington Metro as going West to East. ;) Maybe it should be on a per-system basis, or abandoned altogether?

Also, do you have any comment on my naming proposal?

So, there's not been much work on this in a while. Is this the proper place to make suggestions?

  • A list of notable places near the station, perhaps crosslinked back from those places.
  • The address or intersection of the station

Any other suggestions? The project as it exists now is pretty bare bones.

I just made some large changes to the template page, I hope I did this all correctly. --Golbez 05:27, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)
