It's uplifting that see people with knowledge about history as you on Misplaced Pages. You can always send me an email, it's rare to find somebody who still knows facts about WW2. As you posses great knowledge on Holocaust, perhaps you will be able to add on Jewish situation in Polish Areas annexed by Germany which I try to update ? | It's uplifting that see people with knowledge about history as you on Misplaced Pages. To be honest the knowledge of German atrocities is in terrible shape in today's Poland. People focus more on one 20,000 masscre Katyn then on hundreds of thousands murdered by Germany in several smiliar operations. | |||
Many factors contributed to this-one was the focus on Soviet atrocities after 1989, the other trying to achieve good relations with Germany to get into UE, which meant that German atrocities weren't the favourite subject of history lessons or TV. This changed somewhat after we got into UE, but generally Polish public now knows more about the much smaller Soviet atrocities against Poles then the extermination effort by Germany.--] (]) 15:30, 10 May 2009 (UTC) |
