Stalkers wanted

I'm making an appeal to everyone who's fielded questions on my talk page before; anyone who wants to drop by once a day to have a look would be most welcome for the next couple of weeks. I've got my hands full doing CSD work and communicating with wikiprojects about WP:Article alerts, I'm converting a fair number of speedies into prods and tagging the talk pages so that wikiprojects will be alerted. Also, I think it's generally better for someone who has questions about a deletion to talk with someone other than the deleter; that relationship is off on the wrong foot. I'll be happy to return the favor. (Watchlisting) - Dank (formerly Dank55) (push to talk) 21:58, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

My significant other

Ironholds, you are awesome, and I thank you. The name of the publication is the 'British Blue Book of the Crimean War', and if you could find it she says you can marry her instead! Cheers man, Skinny87 (talk) 11:50, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Ack, sorry, all we know is that it was a contemporary report, issued a little after the end of the conflict. Skinny87 (talk) 11:55, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
That's really kind of you - it's any kind of mental health issues in soldiers during and just after the Crimean War. Skinny87 (talk) 12:05, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I had my suspicions of how easy it would be to find, Charlotte only found one book mentioning it in any detail. How difficult would it be for you to convert them to pdfs? Skinny87 (talk) 12:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, I don't want to put you out :) Cheers again; look, I have to go offline for a while now, but I'll hit you up on IRC. If you want to send those pdfs via my email, that'll be great. Thanks again, Skinny87 (talk) 12:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Joey fitz

Hi, I can't ask you to look at Joey fitz again because I've deleted it. But if you remind me at the London meetup I'll explain why I thought it was an attack not an A7. Cheers ϢereSpielChequers 15:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Chiltern Hundreds

Thanks for the kind remarks about my articles on Liberal MPs. I will try and add a few to the reasons column on the Chiltern Hundreds pages from time to time. Cheers --Graham Lippiatt (talk) 15:49, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages meets

Thanks for the invitation to the London meet on 17 May. I live in Birmingham (West Mids, not Alabama regretfully) but used to be London-based and do get down from time to time. Can't make the 17 May but maybe a future one. Regards, --Graham Lippiatt (talk) 11:17, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

US Congress

Please attempt to follow your advice in the last point above. I have been working on these articles for years with several people having complex misunderstanding you are naturally repeating. My solution may not be perfect, but generally some calm, professional thought is useful. Consider the possibility that I understand something you don't and that it might take physical evidence and months of thought for your to realize the problem. I am doing no harm, perhaps some good, and certainly haven't deserved the comments you are making. stilltim (talk) 13:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Hell's Belles (band)

Hi. I noticed you tagged the article as a speedy A7. I originally brought it to AfD because (for some reason) I thought articles that had been around for a while can't be speedied. Am I wrong? Yintaɳ  14:24, 9 May 2009 (UTC)\

Peter F. Cross

This article was tagged with an A7 tag and was deleted within five minutes of creation, even before I had a chance to place a {hangon} tag on it. Cross was a minor figure at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, but had a major role in the creation of a historic double eagle gold coin as well as a commemorative medal. I had also provided two reliable independent references, including that of an official U.S. government website. Bill (talk) 23:07, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Smith v Eric S Bush

I think that Mr Bush, the surveyor went in the trade by his full name, which is why all the casebooks show this. I agree though, it's unusual! Wikidea 08:24, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Trust me on the name! As for the case of the hooded man, it looks good, but where are the case citations? Is it not reported? You could use an infobox, like in Carlill. Also, do you think you could stay with a facts/judgment format? If you want to give long fact descriptions, then perhaps the thing to do is give a very quick (two or three sentence) overview of the facts and the CA decision: of course, this case mightn't be legally significant (I've never heard of it!) and more of a cool story. :) Wikidea 12:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I think you spoke too soon! I just found it for you on Westlaw (by typing Alverstone, Ridley and Phillimore into the search). There it is: R. v Williams (John)Court of Criminal Appeal; 13 January 1913; (1913) 8 Cr. App. R. 133. Have you got access? Wikidea 12:44, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm putting up an infobox, and leave you to do the rest. It's out of copyright, so you can take out the formatting and paste up the judgment (if you wanted). Did you say you've done more contract cases? Are you adding categories (eg <Category:English contract law> as you go? Wikidea 12:48, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Cheers - but as it happens I have to be away next weekend. I did have in mind to pop by, but it'll have to wait! Wikidea 13:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

the v. vs. the v

Hi Ironholds,

Thanks for catching me again on using "v." versus "v" . Are you sure this is a transatlantic convention? I am inclined to use "v." I will stop doing it if you're certain it's not the United States convention, but I'd appreciate if you could point me to a style guide of some kind. thanks Agradman (talk) 19:50, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

In America we use a v. , in Britain a v is used Geoff Plourde (talk) 20:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, gotcha, ta. Lots of little things like that in the world - I've yet to work out why we Brits spell "judgement" wrong when dealing with law. Ironholds (talk) 20:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Its due to differences between Queen's English and American English. When we designed our own primers, the authors simplified conventions they saw as silly. Geoff Plourde (talk) 16:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Image question-

http://en.wikipedia.org/File:Dasyprocta_prymnolopha_(Harvard_University).JPG Are byelaw clauses actually enforceable in the US? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:48, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Clarification - I meant in this case 'byelaws' indicated by US museums against commercial photography... Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:32, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Museums are -http://www.hmnh.harvard.edu/ & http://www.peabody.yale.edu/ respectivly, however the note about photography was according to the notes on the image in an offline pamphlet.. In any case the image linked is valid fair-use IMO :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the fast response, I'm suspecting 'internal' museum rules rather than local ordinances though. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:39, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Mass Deletion.

Hello,

An admin left this on my Talk page.

"Deleting them is not a problem at all. Would take me a half hour or so, but the mechanics of it aren't difficult. However there has been no decision to delete them all. If they truly are all the same, you need to bundle them, or at least some subset of them (say 20) into a mass AfD nomination (see Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion#How to list multiple related pages for deletion) and then, using that subset as representative of the larger class, ask for deletion of them all. Getting the decision to delete a few through separate AfDs results in some precedent for a future mass nomination but you need to be transparent, directly calling for people to debate the merits of deleting the whole class. Once you get a decision to delete them all, an admin will take care of it.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:15, 13 May 2009 (UTC)"

Could be usefull.--gordonrox24 (talk) 11:03, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

RfA Thanks

Thank you for participating in my recent RfA, which was unable pass with a final tally of (45/39/9). I plan on addressing the concerns raised and working to improve in the next several months. Socks and VK

I have no idea whether Kittybrester's new friend is a sock or not. However, you should look at Kittybrewster's history of a possessing a following of supportive socks and in turn supporting an entire court of socks (supposedly now banned). It is hardly surprising that some editors now automatically fear the worst. Giano (talk) 10:10, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Congress articles

I have done my level best, with complete sincerity, to address the concerns expressed about having this data on various accounts, etc, etc. I have almost built the 23rd United States Congress to display and will still finish it. However, it then took less than an hour for a user (Markles) to completely undo the work and restore the unattractive, confused and incomplete article proceeding. I really need some serious help by anyone that cares about getting this right because I honestly am feeling persecuted and will soon give up my efforts. stilltim (talk) 19:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Help with stopping unjustified Re.co.do edits

Hi. I've just finished reviewing the edits on this article, and it appears to me that editor Gregser is adding and deleting material from the article that he created with little heed to editorial criticism. I've just explained the main problems to them on their talk page. Since one of their actions was to delete without explanation the prod tag that you added , perhaps you could help here.
