A scissors crossover (or double crossover or diamond crossover) is a term used for a set of four railroad switchs that allows trains to cross over to an adjacent parallel track. The crossed over switches look like the letter X. These switches are used to allow trains to cross to the other track and either continue in the same direction or reverse direction.
