The 2009 Honduran alleged coup d'état is an ongoing alleged Honduran military coup d'état that started in Honduras on 28 June 2009. President Manuel Zelaya's attempt to have a constitutional referendum on June 28, 2009, to change the constitution and allow him to be re-elected has provoked a serious political crisis in the country. He has been arrested by his country's army and is being held in an airbase outside Tegucigalpa, and flown to San José, Costa Rica.

With the president absent, the Constitution mandates that the head of Congress, Roberto Micheletti, acts as provisional head of state.

The Organization of American States has called for an emergency meeting.
