Popups tool

Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Misplaced Pages:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:Lectonar/monobook.js:

// ] - please include this line
document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User:Lupin/popups.js'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');
popupShortcutKeys=true; // optional: enable keyboard shortcuts
popupAdminLinks=true; // optional: enable admin links

There are more options which you can fiddle with listed at Misplaced Pages:Tools/Navigation popups. Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin|talk|popups 12:12, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

The arrival of your welcome message coincided with the creation of my user page so I thought you were running an automated message robot of some kind. Obviously, I was quite mistaken and hope you accept my apologies for answering so late. Cheers, GrafZahl 13:13, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

Can't find location of article. please help!

Hi again. I'm having trouble finding the actual location of my article Holy Tantra Jin-Gang-Dhyana Buddhism. I can find it amongst my contributions, but it has been removed from under some sub-titles. I'm still new here, so don't really know how Misplaced Pages operates. please excuse my ignorance.--Vajrabell 04:53, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

I added a link to the Swedish wikipedia. Is it commonplace to then go and edit on the other foreign wikipedias, and give them all a link to it? I refer to sv:Kategori:Bhutan. It would be a bit mundane to edit in all of them I think, so is this done by a program/robot/bot? Thanks. --Dangherous 12:25, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

--Elian 17:03, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Transclusion

I'll take my life into my hands and hit you with the boilerplate. ;-)

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Keep whacking those vandals! --GraemeL 20:31, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

OK

Hi, it's me, the guy who created the Willie Trombone article thingy whatever...... So, it has been a mistake, well, sory about that too, I forgot to add the source.

My apologies!

I'm sorry that I blocked the IP you use! I'm glad that you were able to unblock it and carry on. I'm sure unblocking it didn't cause any problems, I had the feeling that the person doing the vandalising was a young kid and probably got bored when they could no longer "contribute." This Wiki Birthday Balloon was awarded to you by: SoothingR

Thank you very much indeed for the wiki-birthday message...just out of curiosity (as I don't suppose you've been watching me the whole time, but who knows...), how do you find the birthday dates (is it a bot?)? Regards.--Lectonar 07:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Haha, I could only WISH that I was able to code such a bot. I use the List of Wikipedians in order of arrival to see who has to be congratulated on his/her Wikibirthday. It may be a little sour to those who didn't add theirselves to the list, but it would really be too much work for me otherwise. -- SoothingR 07:41, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

I noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Atheist Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in my suggested featured article for December 25th: Omnipotence paradox. substing

I just tried it with my user page at my sandbox and it worked just fine, images and all. As I say the only reason it wouldn't work sometimes is that sometimes templates are designed specifically to be displayed {{in these things}}: see User:Francs2000/Babel and compare it to how it displays on my user page as an example. -- Francs2000 14:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Speaking of which, vandalism, when I asked numerous times to cease that behaviour, is utterly unacceptable. Were I an admin, that comment alone would have earned anon 82.44.178.12 a one week block. What's it going to take to get the message across that his behaviour is unacceptable and wrong? Isn't it blindingly obvious at this point that he's simply not going to desist his destructive acts of vandalism..? Can he not be blocked for such misuse of wikipedia...? He's certainly not contributing anything constructive... See his "contributions".-MegamanZero 20:55 1,December 2005 (UTC)
  • Concerning your query:

I was just on RC-Patrol when I noticed the vandalism on the pertaining userpage; if you have a look at Misplaced Pages:blocking policy, at least according to my understanding, not much would earn a longer block at the first time; but there's admins and there's admins, and I'm not one of the harsh ones (Have a look at my userpage, perhaps you'll understand). But I'll keep an eye open now on him...Btw, the vandlism came not only from one anon account. Cheers. Lectonar 08:04, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, I agree being harsh isn't a good "policy" as an admin, but he's done nothing but target and vandalize The Wookieepedian's page. On top of that ,he has not even made any helpful contributions. Also, yeah, he's been using sockpuppets in his vandalizing. -MegamanZero 9:11 1,December 2005 (UTC)
  • Thanks. I knew were getting tired of reverting Wookie's userpage as much as the rest of us. =)-MegamanaZero 9:38 1,Decmeber 2005 (UTC)
He's still going. I've tagged his talk page with BlatantVandal and updated Misplaced Pages:Vandalism in progress. But I suspect I know who is doing it, and I doubt he'll stop. Regards, Ben Aveling 21:39, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
