Selman Stërmasi is a former player, coach and president of KF Tirana in the '30s and '40s. Selman Stërmasi returned to his homeland Albania in the beginning of the '30s after finishing studies in Rome for Physical Culture. He contributed as a player and then as a coach and even president of the club in those years to 8 national titles (even though two of them (the "war championships are not recognized today). KF Tirana of that time will be remembered for his memory as well as the memory of other exceptional footballers such as: A.Karapici, Sh. Ndroqi, I. Dashi, Xh.Kashari, S. Lleshi, H. Begeja, H. Korça, M. Petrela, A. Hobdari, R. Gurashi, I. Gjinali, F. Janku, Riza Lushta, Naim Kryeziu, etc.

Selman Stërmasi was distinguished of great managerial abilities. He was initiator and organizer of the first Albanian football transfers: SK Tirana players Naim Kryeziu, Riza Lushta, and Sllave Llambi signed regular contracts with well-known Italian clubs (Italy being twice world champion at that time), respectively at AS Roma, Juventus FC and Bologna FC. All three of them had been formed as professional footballers under the guidance of Stërmasi, their coach, president and manager. Although after 1944, his capability and activity were disclaimed from dictatorial regime, Stërmasi has been and continues to be one of the most well known football personalities not only within KF Tirana, but also in the Albanian football world.

During the '90s Stërmasiwas honored by the Albanian Football Association, which named the second largest stadium of Tirana Selman Stërmasi Stadium.
