Edward “Punchy” McLaughlin, was an Irish-American mobster an member of Charlestown, Massachusetts' The McLaughlin Brothers. He and his brothers Bernard McLaughlin, and George McLaughlin, ran the gang with Bernie as the leader. Punchy, who had survived many assassination attempts by Winter Hill Gang assassins Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi and Frank Salemme, one causing Punchy to lose his hand. When Punchy was recorded referring to FBI agent H. Paul Rico as a “fag”, Rico gave the assassins the address where Punchy was hiding. Then, while on the way to Georgie's murder trial, Punchy was shot to death by the assassins.
