Rogue (born Eugine Bathhurst, July 4, 1972) is a founding member of the American darkwave band The Crüxshadows. Throughout the 70s and early/mid 80s, he moved frequently, living on or near US Army installations in Europe and the United States. His family finally settled in Jacksonville, Florida and he attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, majoring in art. Called "Bear" by his family, he was dubbed "Rogue" by friends as a teenager.
Rogue started The Crüxshadows in the early 90's while in college. In 1994 he graduated from magna cum laude and then went to work briefly as a curator in a state-funded art gallery, which he had helped to open while a student.
During the mid 1990s, the Crüxshadows began to tour and record for Nesak International, though frustrations with his band and label caused Rogue to seek new bandmates and a new record company, Dancing Ferret Discs. The label bought out the band's contract from Nesak and issued a limited edition EP, Until The Voices Fade, to coincide with the band's appearance at the Convergence music festival that year. The band's second acknowledged album, Mystery of The Whisper, followed shortly thereafter. Continued albums and consistent international and US touring led over the next several years to high-profile status within the goth scene for Rogue and his band.
Rogue's spider-like hairstyle may be the most identifiable feature of his appearance, though he is also known for his unique performing style, which includes significant audience interaction and mobility allowed by his headset microphone.
