I subscribe to the idea that wikipedia is a truly modern interactive, internet computer game. Its also the best search engine for many topics. The real joy, the real game, is wandering around the myriad articles, though I always do so in a purposeful way; the random article button and recent changes patrol are not for me. I would recommend learning how to edit wikipedia as an excellent basic education in modern computing techniques for those with little or no background in computing, many of the basic features we use such as watchlists and diffs are fundamental to modern computing. My main criticism is that responsibility and advancement in wikipedia is only open to those who wish to be come the policeman or so-called administrators of wikipedia; there is no way of advancement for good editors who have no desire to police the site.
