Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

Brandon Spikes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection , American college football player in a recent game has been accused of eye-gouging. IP editors keep on adding content that shows a lack of basic understanding of wp:blp, wp:rs. Example . Thank you. Omarcheeseboro (talk) 16:45, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. --slakr 17:02, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Second Amendment to the United States Constitution (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Long term semi-protect please. 71.174.135.195 (talk), subject to a 6-month block, has also been using IP addresses:
- 98.118.13.212 (talk),
- 71.184.177.11 (talk),
- 98.118.22.23 (talk),
- 96.237.123.191 (talk),
- 96.237.129.194 (talk).
- 71.184.183.9 (talk)
They're all SPAs used in WP only at this article by the same person who's been banned for six months as 71.174.135.195 (talk). The user, though, keeps showing up at new IP addresses and renews the disruption both in the article and on talk, with admins being unable to keep up with it. This has been going on for a month now, and a 7-day semi-pp was inadequate. Thanks. ... Kenosis (talk) 15:48, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. slakr 16:57, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection, There have been repeated attempts by newly created accounts to remove the AfD tag while discussion is ongoing. I request that the article be semiprotected for the duration of the AfD. . Ray 14:41, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Lassie Come Home (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection dispute, Disagreement over the addition of a second non-free image to a near-stub length article. Discussion underway. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 13:55, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- The article is being expanded as we seem to have numerous editors interested in it. We should naturally expect some friction as we work the content out. Full protection would be disruptive to this work and seems excessive. Colonel Warden (talk) 14:47, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- The article is not being expanded at all. Shoving in one minute sentence is not expansion, and there are not "numerous" editors interested in it, only you because you stalked me there, and me, who is rapidly losing interest in actually doing real work on it versus randomly throwing in an excessive, unnecessary non-free image and falsely calling it "expansion". -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 15:20, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
2010 Formula One season (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - excessive vandalism - three more vandal edits have taken place since I started posting this message - and speculation: half a dozen edits within the past fifteen minutes, and more since early this morning when season ended. This is the third request for the page to be protected since August; the last protection phase expired only on Thursday or Friday and the page has been the subject of constant edits since then. IP users frequently update driver table with names but no sources as soon as rumour breaks of a driver moving to a new team. Based on the frequent history of this occuring, I'm requesting a semi-protection status for an extended period of time - possibly until the season begins on weekend of March 14th, 2010 - to allow established users to update page with accurate information as it becomes available, but protect page from vandal attacks. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 12:26, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Semi-protected Semi-protected until midnight, 14 March 2010 Mjroots (talk) 13:07, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Laurie Brett (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Excessive vandalism, various anonymous IPs keep posting comments on the article that should really belong in the talk page. They have been asked to post the comments on the actress' talk page, or to change the info on Misplaced Pages if they have a referenced source to prove her date of birth is wrong, but they're refusing to take advice 5 albert square (talk) 10:39, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 day, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. It wasn't much vandalism, but 1 day should put a stop to the in-article comments, and hopefully direct everybody to the talkpage if there's dispute about her DOB and its sourcing. Avatar (2009 film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. Anonymous IPs keep changing the release date to the December 18 despite a reference being provided for the Fox global release schedule. The problem is caused by the fact that it is released a couple of days later in the US, but the changes are persistent despite the reference. I've changed this back numerous times over the month but the frequency has increased over the weekend. The problem only seems to be with anonymous editors, perhaps they are inexperienced and not realising the little number is a reference. Aside from that unreferenced material keeps being added too. Can we make this article semi-protected up until its release date please, then hopefully the aricle will stabilise. Betty Logan (talk) 09:43, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Fulfilled/denied requests
The Armidale School (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Vandalism that was missed for well over seven hours; this article may not be a red-flag on vandalism, but we can't afford crap like this. The IP user is switching IPs to vandalize. Requesting minimum two days temporary protection. —Mr. E. Sánchez (that's me!) / What I Say 07:04, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. Blocked the main IP for 6 months (they've been blocked before). The level of vandalism isn't terribly high. If the article needs more eyes watching it, perhaps ask at WP:AUS? tedder (talk) 07:11, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
The Clique series (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Hit by four IPs today alone. Article could use a break. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 06:04, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Protected due to previous problems and ongoing issues. tedder (talk) 06:11, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Redneck (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism, mainly on talk page. Previous two-day semi-protection ended at midnight, and this joker was back within two hours. Request one week to let him cool his jets. Eastcote (talk) 05:34, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Declined The semi-prot of the article hasn't ended, so it isn't really valid to ask for it to be (re)protected. And talk pages/article pages aren't generally protected at the same time. You're talking about the anon IP(s), right? Give them warnings, then take them to WP:AIV. If they are very abusive, drop me a line and I'll look into it. But warnings should be given whenever they are reverted. tedder (talk) 05:45, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, 20 IP edits for "disaster sriens" in 24 hours, suggest 36 hours semi-protect. Pirate 03:34, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

30 Seconds to Mars (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Was protected once for over a month then after that it got protected a second time due to the problems once again coming about, I'm requesting protection for the same reason as before. This article's protected has just expiried, but problems have once again arose. GunMetal Angel 01:07, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Appears to only be one IP, and you've tried to get them to discuss it on their talk page. If it continues, ask for them to be blocked (using WP:UTM wouldn't hurt so you can use WP:AIV). tedder (talk) 01:31, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Helena Blavatsky (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi protection dispute, I came across this page accidentally on the recent changes list and I've noticed there seems to be an edit war on this page. An anonymous IP seems to be adding unreferenced information to the page. It is being reverted because it's unreferenced and he's being asked for sources, but seems to be arguing with other editors regarding this. I've looked on the talk page, there is a discussion about this but nothing seems to be getting resolved. This has been going on since middle October. 5 albert square (talk) 01:07, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Declined Good catch, 5A. I'm watching it, gave the IP a lvl4 warning, and will handle it. I think protection may be premature. tedder (talk) 01:35, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Guitar Hero (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Getting a lot of recent IP edits adding random, unnamed, non-existing Guitar Hero games (in addition to usual vandalism). May be related based on IPs but hard to tell . Couple weeks of semiprot to help cool it off, hopefully. MASEM (t) 23:55, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

- Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Only semi-protected, it seems to be primarily an IP dispute.
