I saw your category up for deletion, commented, noted the language used both there and on your user page and saw a bigger view of things upon checking the contributions list of User DaleEastman. I've left XfD and NPA lvl3 warnings to the user, and with my being a 2nd NPA warning editor you are free to report any further concerns to ].

In could not in good concision ignore that level of blanketing, so I checked and noted that a fairly large number of articles needed reverts or other changes-- in regards to the category and article citations and not related to content. Going through every single article that had been tagged with the new category, I removed it from those with no mention of "Islam". Oddly, a few did not even have "Terrorism" in them. Also needed to remove some sections with uncited SYNTH claims of larger terrorism-related activities on a few of them (see ]). To give that editor a likely-generous AGF chance, I was rather fairly loose and left the category tag on articles mentioning ] by name or even a loose connection between the term terrorism and any reference to Islam whatsoever.

This is obviously a political and religious hot topic, but those conflicts are not for me to deal with and Misplaced Pages has plenty of guidelines. I felt it necessary to be generous with some of the tags left to try to make sure that I didn't take it out of articles that I can't personally classify. My criteria were quite specific. Rather-- it's far easier to remove the tag from articles you object to later on if the category stays than it is to put it back on, so I hope you're not left with the impression that I'm trying to make any cultural judgments. I'll be leaving the other user a message now, as well. Cheers~ <b>♪</b> <span style="font-family:Verdana;font-variant:small-caps">]]</span> 14:43, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Torture can never be an instrument to fight terror, for torture is an instrument of terror
— Judge Dennis O'Connor
There is every sign that Canadians are not just apathetic in the face of this abuse; most of them support it. Sometimes it seems that democracy isn't even skin-deep in this country. It vanishes at the first challenge. By sheer good luck, the challenges have never been severe enough to create major changes in our institutions, nor damage our smugness. That sense of confidence is poorly deserved and, like all illusions, more dangerous to our survival as a free country than any of the external challenges we might face.
