Now, now
I know they are , you know they are , most people know they are , so what's to gain by saying it? Don't give them the opportunity to get their own way and see you blocked, every day you still edit here is a (well-deserved in many cases!) smack in the face to them don't forget. 2 lines of K303 13:45, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

WP:BOXING
I've brought my proposal to the WikiProject. GoodDay (talk) 15:17, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- My proposal is getting the thumbs down, or is that KO'd. GoodDay (talk) 23:26, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Lol! its taken a standing count but there is plenty of time to go yet. Once this moves on I think we should then discuss what and how many nicknames should be included. But I reckon we leave the current proposal standing for another fe days at least - I'm in no rush to try and force anything through.--Vintagekits (talk) 12:14, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- I was gonna say 'no mas, no mas', but I'll wait. If/when it's rejected, I'll continue to push for the 2-nickname solution . GoodDay (talk) 18:56, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Good one! Aye, but I think it would be wrong to limit it to two nicknames though. Just having two seems arbitrary and contrived. But thats just my opinion anyone. No rush anyway pal. I am doing a list of boxers nicknames which the boxer either didnt like or what not entirely positive - quite a few actually. Big night tonight. --Vintagekits (talk) 19:00, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, good luck. GoodDay (talk) 19:07, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

I can't believe they had him 5 to 1 underdog before Dunne's fight. I guess because they fought in Ireland but anyway I still feel bad that i didn't have any on him. You want me to work on his page?Marty Rockatansky (talk) 09:16, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

NE boxers
Many thanks for the kind invite. It's not a subject I'm well up on. The only NE boxers I can recall in recent memory are Glenn McCrory & Billy Hardy! I'll happily take a look around in the general area though. cheers.

- I missed that. The last I heard of GM is that was trying to get the Cuban boxers to be based in the NE for the 2012 Olympics. Leaky Caldron 18:40, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Aussie Boxers
I'll see what I can do with the Danny Green and Anthony Mundine articles. I've had a read of both and found a mistake in Anthony Mundine's article which has his "Professional record breakdown" where they are missing two of his fights. I remember him playing Rugby League. Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Misplaced Pages:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you.--John (talk) 05:10, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Northern Irish
I do know about nationality with respect to people from Northern Ireland. Do you know how golfers are referred to in professional golf? They all use the subnational names and flags of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland when referring to golfers. See any golfer's profile on the European Tour, PGA Tour, or Official World Golf Rankings sites or any leaderboard that uses flags to denote nationality. Tewapack (talk) 22:50, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- That you do know about nationality with respect to people from Northern Ireland should make this simple. How the persons self identify must be respected. --Domer48'fenian' 23:26, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

As a boxing expert I was wondering if you could help - is this guy notable? He's a trainer, and potentially a former fighter. I ask because I recently created an article on his father, who was a pro footballer back in the 1960s. Regards, GiantSnowman 23:56, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Without a doubt he is notable in my opinion. I never heard of him as boxer but I assume that he was a top level amateur who went straight into training - which is possibly indicative of the game in RSA back then. He is a high profile trainer as well as manager having trained multiple world champions including Tshepo Lefele, Phillip N'dou, Cassius Baloyi and Sugar Boy Malinga. Definately notable but there aint a lot of articles on trainers - Category:Boxing trainers.--Vintagekits (talk) 09:29, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- Cool, cheers for that. I may do a bit of research on him to see if there's enough for him to pass GNG, regardless of sporting notability. Thanks again, GiantSnowman 12:29, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

- There is no personal attack there and I am not being uncivil towards anyone! No wonder Mooretwin ran to you in the first place - he knew he could stir shit up and moonwalk away! Keep it up! Well done!--Vintagekits (talk) 01:45, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Howdy VK, I think 'Trevor Thompson (1936)' will be workable. The same things are done at the Ice hockey articles. GoodDay (talk) 01:48, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- I dont think that is my main concern at the moment to be honest mate - my problem is Elonka and he "sensitive ears" - just because she sees a swear word she automatically thinks "personal attack" and "uncivil" - for fuck sake - grow up and need the fuckin sentance! People where I am from use "industrial fuckin language" in their everyday speech - its used to emphasis emtional and communication not just as a fuckin perjoritive! What a loads of bollocks!--Vintagekits (talk) 01:52, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

She obviously has no knowledge of the world outside her narrow middle class academic life and judges others by her own culture and sensitive nature - she can keep using wikipedia as a method of boosting her ego but I am not going to play her game.--Vintagekits (talk) 01:58, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

David -vs- Goliath II
OK, Haye didn't knockout Valuev, with a rock (nor latter decapitate him), but it was sorta an upset. Next on Haye's menu John 'the wrestler' Ruiz. -- GoodDay (talk) 18:52, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thankfully I had money on a Haye points victory - which paid for the PPV! Possibly the most boring fight in history - its impossible to look good against Valuev.--Vintagekits (talk) 18:56, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, all Valuev's got is a jab & a volkwagon beetle for a head. Haye ain't gonna look good against Ruiz, either. He'll be hugged into a slumber, if he's not careful. GoodDay (talk) 19:00, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
ANI note

Howdy VK. The impression I'm getting, is you'll have to get a consensus at BLP, for such additions. BLP over-rules WP:BOXING in this incident. GoodDay (talk) 21:10, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

My part in the Audley business
Feel free to remove this, but based on your comments on ANI I wanted to give my side of my part in all this. Some time ago I saw the subject come up on BLP/N. I had an opinion, and made a total of 2 comments. I didn't think of the subject again until I saw the subject pop up on ANI a page I have watchlisted. I remembered the BLP/N discussion, knew it had been archived. Thought it would be helpful for those who hadn't been involved in the previous discussion to have a link to it. (A link that I botched making.) We disagree, but I don't have any opinions to add that I didn't make in my two edits to the BLP/N thread. I don't plan on contributing further to the ANI thread. My only attempt at contribution was to try to add a courtesy link. I don't believe I have ever edited the Audley Harrison, but certainly now I never will. It's a fact that we disagree about policy and consensus on this matter, but I have no intention of furthering any sort of dispute. The tl/dr version, I think my part in this was pretty small, and i'm out of it.--Cube lurker (talk) 21:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- My position is based on facts and policy - yours is on opinion! Thats where we differ.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:50, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- So be it. Don't know what else to say. I'm not adding to the ANI thread. I'm not going to touch the article. Not an admin and never will be, so no worries there. Sorry if there are hard feelings towards me but all I can do is stay out of it.--Cube lurker (talk) 22:06, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
WikiProjects-in-general
I remember having it explained to me at WP:HOCKEY ('bout 2 yrs ago), that WikiProjects have little authoriy on Misplaced Pages, they're basically co-ordinating tools. GoodDay (talk) 23:06, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
I understand your frustrations. A consensus was reached at WP:HOCKEY (years ago) to eliminate diacritics from NHL related articles. Yet, I'm not allowed to delete them from the NHL players 'birthplaces' (even though I'm supported by the NHLPA's style). It's no fun knowing you're right & not be able to do much about it. GoodDay (talk) 15:18, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
We might have something in the works, at my talkpage. GoodDay (talk) 17:42, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm content with the 'compromise' reached at my talkpage. I'm moving on, good luck. GoodDay (talk) 18:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
BLP
There's not much more for me to add there. Whatever version is chosen, I won't dispute it. Like I said, un-accomplished boxers (like Harrison) aren't worth getting a block. GoodDay (talk) 14:52, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
