Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV), is a public university is located in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, India.
History
The university is named after its founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who introduced the Transcendental Meditation technique to the world.
MMYVV is part of Maharishi's global education initiative taking place in more than 100 countries. In India, MMYVV is part of the Maharishi Educational System with more than 250,000 students, 6,000 faculty/teachers and 4,000 administrative and support staff across 250 districts in India.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya was established by a unanimous vote of the State Legislature of Madhya Pradesh in 1995. This was to honor Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who was born in Madhya Pradesh. This university has been called "one of the best-known sources of advanced degrees (including PhDs) in all areas of the Vedic sciences".
Academic
The university offers post graduate (Acharya), graduate (Shastri) and degree (Praman Patra) programs in the areas of ancient history and the languages and cultures of India. Courses offered at the university include Transcendental Meditation, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, TM-Sidhi Programme, Maharishi Gandharva Veda, Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health, Maharishi Global Administration through Natural Law, Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya Programmes, Maharishi Corporate Development Programme and Maharishi Invincible Defence Programme.
The university is also a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Thousands of students have already graduated and been awarded degrees.
A distance education program is also being established.
