Leland Y. Yee is a California Assemblyman in the 12th district, which includes San Francisco, California. Yee is the speaker pro tempore of the assembly, and was elected in 2002.
Education

Yee received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
Yee received a master's degree from San Francisco State University.
Yee holds a Ph. D. in Child Psychology from the University of Hawaii.

Politics
Yee is a member of the Democratic Party.
Currently serves as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the California State Assembly, the second highest ranking Democrate in the State Assembly.
Yee is known as a critic of the games industry, supporting free speech but believing that Violent games should be kept out of children's hands at the point of sale. He is however a supporter of the video game industry's right to manufacture games that are aimed at a mature or adult market. He is the author of California Assembly Bills 1792 & 1793 which was signed into law (on October 7, 2005) which would prohibit the sales of"ultraviolent" games to persons under the age of eighteen in California. It should be noted that this law was deemed unconstitutional by Judge Ronald Whyte on the December 22nd 2005 due to vaguaries in the laws definition of "ultraviolent", thus preventing it coming into effect on January 1st 2006.
