Hi Ice. The articles you're creating may not meet the specific athlete notability guidelines (as non professionals), but they seem to me to meet the general notability guidelines. I'm looking into it a bit and have asked for a wider review and reconsideration of the Prater article. Re: Demar DeRozan

Re your message: The start of the basketball season does not help the notability of Demar DeRozan. As I noted to you earlier, the problem is that he does not meet the notability guidelines for athletes. The start of the season does not change that. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:37, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Re your message: It's alright, I'm not bothered by your questions. Like I said, I don't think he is notable enough, but you are still welcome to recreate the article. I won't delete it. My recommendation is to make sure that you have proper references for him so that another admin does not delete it. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: You need to add references to articles about him from mainstream media. For example, newspapers or major basketball/sports websites. Stories written about him would be best. Passing mentions ("He scored the winning basket." or "He had the most points scored in the game.") would not infer notability. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: I think it's okay. Did you find any articles that featured him? -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: The link you added was an incomplete link. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:58, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: Sorry about not responding to your last message. I lost it in the shuffle. All three of the articles look good. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 01:57, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Live 09.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Live 09.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:30, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sm WoS.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sm WoS.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Misplaced Pages's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 01:43, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Nbalive09.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nbalive09.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 18:54, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

This does not constitute a fair use rationale. I recommend you read our guidelines on non-free content before uploading any more non-free media. J Milburn (talk) 16:59, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Can you please explain why you keep removing reference tags?

here and here. There are reasons why those still need reference tags. The game engine because someone wanted a citation and the dates because there still needs to be references to them regardless of whether or not the game was already released. Strongsauce (talk) 02:49, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Resolved DEFAULTSORT conflict

Hi!

Each of the biographies you have on your User page had a DEFAULTSORT value. This value may only appear once on a page whether overtly, as DEFAULTSORT, or as an alias, in PERSONDATA or the listas parameter. If it appears more than once on a page it creates an error message on the page and puts the page on the Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts. We are trying to get that category down to no members.
I removed the double braces from each of your DEFAULTSORT values. If any of the biographies need to be pasted into a real page you will need to re-insert the double braces. The biographies that already have their own pages could be removed from your page, could they not?
By the way, I merely skimmed through the biographies but they appear to be very well done. There may be notability issues but each is probably as notable as some of the soccer players whose biographies I have seen because of their DEFAULTSORT conflict but only have four line of text and no citations or references.
I hope I did not damage anything. I do not think I did.

I have recreated this article which you originally made and which was deleted. I restored all of your previous content and updated it as well as he is clearly now notable. Feel free to resume contributing to that page if you wish. Oren0 (talk) 21:35, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of File:24 season 7 cast.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:24 season 7 cast.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Misplaced Pages (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use Image:Rickybrandonslam.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Rickybrandonslam.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 23:01, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: John Wall (basketball)

Re your message: Since I did not do the deletion, it would be best to pursue undeletion by filing a request at Misplaced Pages:Deletion review. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:50, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

In fact, it would be a bit better to talk to the deleting administrator before starting a deletion review. decltype (talk) 02:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

DeMar DeRozan

Is there a reason for your exclusion of his measurements in the lead? Boomtish (talk) 07:29, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

All basketball-related GA and FA's have the respective player measurements mentioned in the article lead. The lead is a summary of the entire article. Boomtish (talk) 14:43, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I removed your image from the article Modern Warfare 2 becuase it is not informative at all. Menu screens are not importnat to the article and do not show game play or features. Since people keep adding too many images to the article, I started a discussion on the aticle's talk page about limiting non-free image use. =/= Ironoclast (Talk) 19:54, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Re your message: Hello again! Any administrator can delete pages, but in this particular case, if I were delete the article, it would be against the deletion policy. Proposed deletion of Kyle Prater

The article Kyle Prater has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable person who fails WP:ATHLETE. Has yet to compete at college level, let alone professional level.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Scjessey (talk) 22:16, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Athletes

In order for these athletes to warrant having Misplaced Pages articles, they must be notable. In the case of athletes, they must have competed at the professional level (or the highest amateur levels, like the Olympic Games). This pair of athletes simply don't qualify, and probably won't until they play professionally. -- Scjessey (talk) 22:21, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

No, it does not count. Either they must have had significant news coverage in reliable, secondary sources or they must've competed at the professional level. Do NOT recreate articles that have previously been deleted under the AfD process, as this is seen as vandalism. -- Scjessey (talk) 22:49, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
ESPN and recruitment-related coverage is NOT "significant coverage in reliable sources". Respect Misplaced Pages policies and make your case in the AfD discussions. Please don't bother me personally with this again. -- Scjessey (talk) 22:55, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Articles for deletion nomination of Perry Jones

Notability

Hi Ice. The articles you're creating may not meet the specific athlete notability guidelines (as non professionals), but they seem to me to meet the general notability guidelines. I'm looking into it a bit and have asked for a wider review and reconsideration of the Prater article. Regardless, nothing is deleted forever, so it may be possible to restore them sooner or later, depending on when a consensus can be established in favor of notability. Take care. Please let me know if I can be of any help. A lot of my articles get nominated for deletion too! :) ChildofMidnight (talk) 02:23, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
