Delichon

I very much like your efforts on the Martins. It seems to me you are en route to create a Good Topic. Very nice. I addd a GAN notice on the talk page of Delichon. Maybe you would like to check that it is correct. --Ettrig (talk) 19:04, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Various

Some little things to note to and ask you:

  • I've noticed these inaccuracies at Eurasian Tree Sparrow: 1. "A wild hybridisation with the Spanish Sparrow, P. hispaniolensis was recorded in Malta" – there are no Spanish Sparrows on Malta exactly, rather, there are some intermediates in the Italian Sparrow complex, the specific placement of which is not agreed. 2. Passer "contains 15–25 species depending on the authority" – Howard and Moore have 25; Misplaced Pages has articles on 26; and the IOC lists a different 26. What should I do?
  • Would you mind expanding the description section at House Sparrow soon?
  • What does the GA Crested Shelduck need to get to FA? I've made the reference style consistent, and I've started adding and correcting historical information.
  • For your information, Chestnut Sparrow is up for GA review, as I've noted at WT:BIRD#Sparrow GAs.

Ah, and here's something I forgot:

Thanks for the replies. As for the atlas, there is a book of this title, The EBCC Atlas of European Breeding Birds, and the book, complete with ISBN is cited at present. —innotata (TalkContribs) 23:12, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

The supporting text of the atlas is cited, so if you can't supply page numbers, I'll try to remove the citation and replace it with information from other sources. —innotata (TalkContribs) 00:30, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

GAN for Tillson Harrison

Hi Jim! Thanks for your comments on Talk:Tillson Harrison/GA1. I think I've fixed up the issues you pointed out. When you come back from your short wikibreak, could you please take a second look? Thanks, JulieSpaulding (talk) 10:32, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Done :) I thought you were going on holidays? JulieSpaulding (talk) 11:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Jimfbleak! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Patrick Buckland - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Angela Kepler - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  3. Vo Quy - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

notbroken

Thanks for your efforts at B. cuneata, and your support. One small nit: it constantly amazes me how many experienced editors, such as yourself, are unaware of the excellent advice at WP:NOTBROKEN. Hesperian 11:55, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

It's no big deal. I guess I prefer them as redirects; but if there is one thing more pointless than fixing redirects that aren't broken, it is flipping them back to redirects again! ;-) Rock on! Hesperian 14:08, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Plateosaurus

Just for info, I started reviewing this but withdrew because of the objections of another editor (HMallison). I've left the article in the queue and deleted the review page so hopefully no harm done, and it's as it was, good luck Jimfbleak - talk to me? 20:38, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

In case my comments are any use to you, I've recreated them here. After my review of Semicassis granulata degenerated into an edit war and automatic fail, I became less prepared to get enmeshed in this sort of argument Jimfbleak - talk to me? 20:56, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jim,
You are a serious and dedicated GAN reviewer, and I'm sorry you've withdrawn from the review. I have taken a look at your reservations, and will go through them tomorrow. I've converted one bare link and will work on the rest of the formatting on the morrow. Please reconsider your withdrawal, but do know that your review efforts are appreciated. Firsfron of Ronchester 08:25, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks so much for coming back to the review, Jim. I greatly appreciate it. HM is nettled by some of the observations you made ("bit of a mess"), but as you can obviously see (since you've done some of the work yourself), work is proceeding to fix the problems you observed. Regarding the images, these are indeed Arthur Weasley's own illustrations. He simply used his own (real) name when attributing the author (AW is his Misplaced Pages name). Anyway, thanks so much for your work, and for coming back to the review. We need thorough reviews like yours. Firsfron of Ronchester 18:58, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
I would have fixed the redirects myself, but have been asked in the past not to do so. Still, I like it better when the reader clicks on the correct article (and doesn't get a message telling him/her that s/he has been redirected to the correct article. So thanks for the adjustment here. Firsfron of Ronchester 13:37, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Horn colour

Do you know of any synonyms for the colour "horn"? This is the one remaining concern after Chestnut Sparrow's listing as a GA. —innotata (TalkContribs) 20:41, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Lee Silber "largely unsourced BLP" deletion

Jim,

You deleted an entry I posted yesterday (Lee Silber), and I need clarity as to why.

The message only says "largely unsourced BLP," which I don't understand because I cited 16 sources at the bottom. These were almost all significant and acceptable traditional media publications.

According to the BLP Deletion rules:

Biographical material about a living individual that is not compliant with this policy should be improved and rectified; if this is not possible, then it should be removed. If the entire page is substantially of poor quality, primarily containing contentious material that is unsourced or poorly sourced, then it may be necessary to delete the entire page as an initial step, followed by discussion. Page deletion is normally a last resort.

My interpretation of this is that the article should not have been immediately removed, but rather, the necessary corrections should've been brought to my attention. It specifically says that page deletion is normally a last resort, whereas in this situation it seems to have been a first resort. And nothing I can see about the article appears to fit the criteria for immediate removal.

So, please clarify for me what's going on. I'm admittedly new at this, but I seemed to have followed all the rules.

Thank you.

Lee Todd Silber

Thank you for your explanation, Jim. I will make those corrections.

And yes, if you could please put the text in my sandbox, that would be helpful.

Mr Flash deletion

Hello. Please could you undelete Mr Flash? I was just about to add some more stuff with references and everything when suddenly I've found you got rid of it. Please could you give an article a bit more time for editors to get it up to speed? It clearly wasn't any kind of hoax or anything. Thanks. Coolug (talk) 18:47, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I've added TheurbanApparel.com article and it's deleted

I'm a student and doing the research about E-commerce in Thailand. I've found that this website is going to be an inspiration for Asian & Thai entrepreneur as the website is very innovative and professional. This website might be very small in the world business. But if it's deleted like this, i believe that the third world will be the third world forever as you support only the big businesses. Small business information doesn't mean it is not worth for users to read. The information i've added might sound advertising, but i do take it from the website to make sure it is correct. Please advise. Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tkkbkk (talkcontribs) 19:08, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I am trying to create a Misplaced Pages page for Mass Premier Soccer, so far all I did was write a short history of the club in a factual format then it was deleted, what are the reasons for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Masspremiersoccer (talkcontribs) 19:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

RFC - musicians

Howdy, I've noticed some of your work and really like the way you help new folks out. Thank you for that.

If you have a moment, I'd appreciate your thoughts on Talk:Contemporary_Jewish_religious_music#Important_figures. The question is how to define an important musical influence. Thanks, Joe407 (talk) 17:00, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
