Omar S. Amanat is a businessman who founded Tradescape, a day-trading brokerage and technology firm that, for just one day, was reported to have processed 7% of NASDAQ's trading volume on that particular trading day, and was previously named one of the "Top 100 Companies in the United States" by the Red Herring magazine. E*Trade acquired Tradescape for a deal initially valued at $276.2 million but which went into litigation with both sides claiming breach of contract.
Despite the film credits of all the following movies not having his name on the screen releases at theaters, or DVD/video, Amanat claims to be the Executive Producer of many films, including the Academy Award nominated The Visitor, George Clooney's documentary about the Darfur genocide entitled Darfur Now, Smart People starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid, and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh starring Sienna Miller and Nick Nolte among other movies.
