Travian

Hi, as an active editor I wondered if I could ask to drop by the Travian article http://en.wikipedia.org/Travian and give feed back on a developing edit war between myself and another editor. Thanks Jasonfward (talk) 23:22, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

RE: WikiProject Dravidian civilizations banner advertisement

Sorry I was not able to answer your query sooner, I was spending time with the family during Christmas break :). Sorry I cannot correct the banner without creating it from scratch all over again. I have unfortunately lost the original source file. If I get time in the future I will correct the spelling error and upload a new version. Thanks for letting me know about the typo!¤~Persian Poet Gal 18:38, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Tongue vs toungue

While I appreciate your spelling corrections I should point out that, while I am American, and would normally use the American version, my right index finger is British (due to an unfortuate incident with a double-decker bus in 1987). Thanks for the change.--Buster7 (talk) 23:43, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I did not know that toungue was the correct spelling in American English. Thanks for pointing it out. --Joshua Issac (talk) 12:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
I would like to understand this text.... It's a joke, Joshua. Just a bit of fun! Some levity amidst the high drama. Since it stems from the humorous (please note spelling) Cabal page I thought you would "get" it. I guess we ARE seperated by a common language!--Buster7 (talk) 12:36, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh! I get it now. Everyone uses humorous now, by the way; humourous obsolete. --Joshua Issac (talk) 12:48, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey Joshua

Thanks for your message. Yep, I know about the spoofing checkbox - but this user Psb came up as too similar - and the account was recently active (Sept 08). So by rights we should have closed it as too similar. Still, no major harm done I suppose. Cheers, Paxse (talk) 17:12, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Damn. Egg on my face. I missed this edit by Prodego 10 days ago. Damn him for changing the rules on me. :) Paxse (talk) 17:16, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Citing Misplaced Pages articles

Hi Joshua, on your edit at Misplaced Pages:Citing sources: A Misplaced Pages article has a time stamp that, if given, enables anybody to retrieve the exact version. In addition to that, what use is it to know the day when somebody who cites this version happened to look at it, i.e., the access date? That's why this exact guideline says the retrieval date should be "invisible to the reader if the article has a date of publication." Cheers, --EnOreg (talk) 00:37, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Shall I revert? --Joshua Issac (talk) 01:40, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
That would be great, thanks! --EnOreg (talk) 06:32, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

You live over 1,000 miles away!

Listen you limey, I am pretty sure that you have never been on Robert. A. Millikan High School Campus, so do not put things that you are not sure about. I have been ATTENDING Millikan for 4 years, I see the motto every day. Just because the website is never updated and the webmaster is a dumbass, does not mean that you can change things that you do not even know about. I will try to get someone to upload a picture with the mootto.

Good Day! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.108.250.155 (talk) 19:22, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

All right then, I've changed the motto back to your version. I'm not British, by the way. I guess it is my fault, though; I'll put up the userbox now. --Joshua Issac (talk) 20:55, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I should not have assumed that you were British. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.108.250.155 (talk) 01:02, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Kings of Chaos

Well, you did fine. I simply restored the redirect that was out there originally. Is there anything else that needs to be done that I'm missing? Thanks.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:18, February 2, 2009 (UTC)

I have never played Kings of Chaos. I just like editing MMOG articles (because I play Travian). You may want to replace the @ in your e-mail address in your message with an image with the template {{NonSpamEmail}} to prevent spam. For example, {{NonSpamEmail|somebody|example.com}}" produces somebody@example.com. --Joshua Issac (talk) 08:00, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Space in Girl article

It's not that big of a deal since it's only a space and all but why do you want a space in that article right there? What is the purpose of it? The article would look neater without it so yeah. Like I said it's not that big of a deal but yeah I'm curious what the purpose of that space is. Oh and Mallu pride, brotha! ;) Zachorious (talk) 10:06, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't know why the space was put there. You may want to ask Ed Fitzgerald. --Joshua Issac (talk) 16:26, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Category:FL-Class Dravidian languages articles

Every category you create you should specify one or more parent categories in which it appears. In the case of a project category like this, the parent categories are provided automatically when you include the {{Cat class}} template. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. --Joshua Issac (talk) 19:29, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Nile Online

If you look at the original post though, you will see at no point is there a call to "vote," it was geared more towards telling people to go and improve the article, so that it wouldn't have to be deleted. Hpelgrift (talk) 15:26, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter Issue 28 - November 2008
From the Coordinators

As you can see, this is about as bare-bones of a newsletter as you can get. The reason for this is that the newsletter has and will be inactive, but we wanted to get a last one out detailing the current state of our project. The truth is that WP:NOVELS is in bad shape. Only a few editors are active in editing inside of our project. Our Peer Review section, this newsletter, our task forces, and our collaboration center are all dead; although a collab is picked each month, not a lot of work seems to occur.

Out of these ashes, we are proposing that the project start an A-class review system. This will hopefully bring people together for reviewing, and will perhaps get the project some sorely-needed attention from others who can come in and help rehabilitate it. Final plans have not been established, but we will see about getting a mass message out to all of the project members if/when it is set up; discussion of this can be conducted on the General Forum.

This newsletter will probably be the last we will have for a long time, as neither Ed nor Kevinalewis have the time to create these every month. However, if any editor is willing to step up and create one, we would be glad to assist you in making it up.

If you don't want to create a newsletter, but would still like to help, there are plenty of things that can be done. As detailed on the right, the Novels Peer Review section has four articles needing attention, but only one review has been done; one from May, one from November, and one from December have not had any comments left on them. Please consider helping out there; even a 15-minute review would help.

Your coords,

Member news
  • Talk between Kevinalewis and the_ed17, the two project coordinators, has led to us deciding to suspend elections for coordinators indefinitely. With the exceedingly low amount of participation in the last elections (five total votes), we do not feel that it is worth it to try to set up another election.
  • 20 positions remain unfilled at the Job Centre. Members who are active project contributors are encouraged to apply even if they can only do a position for a short time.

As pointed out by another user, the Singur article has multiple issues and hence I edited it. I saw that you have reverted it back. I have given the reasons in the talk page. Please discuss. trakesht (talk) 17:14, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Heads up

Hi Joshua Issac, per earlier consensus at WP:PERM it has been concluded that users who have the account creator flag but have not done any recent account creations are to have the flag removed. As such, I removed you ACC flag. If you choose to become active again, feel free to re-request it. Cheers, Tiptoety 03:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I do not have access to the tool any more, so I won't be needing it.--Joshua Issac (talk) 18:28, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

RE: Account Creation Interface access

Hi there,

I forgot about this! Yes - you were suspended for re-opening requests that had been correctly closed over 3 months ago (at that time). Therefore, I suspended you and asked you to contact me in the suspended message. I am prepared to unsuspend you - and allow you back to use the tool, but I am wondering why you re-opened those accounts in the first place? (Note: If you contacted me at the time, then your "ban" might have not been as long!).

Thanks,

The Helpful One 11:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

OK, I will unban you if you promise to leave the closed requests closed - most people know what they are doing at ACC, so the closed requests have been closed for a good reason - I hope! The Helpful One 17:54, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
On that note, welcome back to the ACC team! :) The Helpful One 10:49, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to the ACC Team!

Thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on Freenode and/or you may also wish to the subscribe to the mailing list, which is used for internal discussions between the account creation team. Keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my talk page if you have any questions. Thank you for your participating in the account creation process. The Helpful One 12:49, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Just my little welcome message! :) The Helpful One 12:49, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Category:Waterloo Road templates

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. In the case of a category like this one, parent categories are provided automatically when you include a {{Template category}} template. I've added the template.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 04:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.--Joshua Issac (talk) 18:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Blocked user

Hi. If you check this person's edit history, he was adding unsourced, POV material and started not only to questioning (and replacing) the deletions, but started in to abusive behavior as well. That's why I had to shut down the talk page. In short, another garden variety adolescent vandal. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 21:25, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

PS: I was only going to block him for a day, that is, until he started in with the "f**k you" attacks. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 21:26, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Proposed Arabic numerals to Hindu-Arabic numerals move

Hi, I noticed that you also think that the article needs to be moved back to its original title. It seems that there are some people that refuse to accept the evidence. I suspect there is a political or personal agenda behind this opposition. The "discussion" was closed without coming to a consensus. This is a very good example of why I detest this process on Misplaced Pages. Someone moved this article without gaining consensus to that effect, now we can't rectify the error without a consensus. It's ludicrous. I definitely want to see this error corrected. What is our next step? Mediation? Do you have any experience with this? Could you help? Rapparee71 (talk) 11:43, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

You could ask someone at Misplaced Pages talk:Requested moves or Misplaced Pages:Village pump, notifying them about the admin's move which violated Misplaced Pages:Consensus. I do not have any experience with this. Sorry about the late reply; I was busy in real life. --Joshua Issac (talk) 19:04, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:MacarthurCrest.png)

Thanks for uploading File:MacarthurCrest.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:35, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Babri Mosque Please Help

Thank you for commens on the discussion page of this article. I wrote the architectural section of the article which I found vandalised. My article had been there for four years withouth change and had stood the test of time. But then somebody keeps removing paragraphs recently. Please keep an eye on this work. I have restored it to the point 22:43, 26 November 2009 79.77.139.65 which are the last of my three edits. I have also put back a photograph of the Mosque. I do not get involved in the politics of the dispute, I only write on architecture of old monuments both Jewish Hindu and Muslim in India and elsewhere. But as a architect i say again I only intrested in architecture of monuments and not the politics of the dispute. I would be very grateful if you can keep an eye on my article (architectural sections) and revert to 22:43, 26 November 2009 79.77.139.65 which is the original for comparison. I originally wrote the article (architectural section, cooling system, well) in 2006 and it keeps getting vandalised only recently as the Mosque has been in the Indian news. Of Course I welcome and would be very happy if the section was improved by a fellow wikipedian with an interest in architecture of religious monuments. kind regards jaffa levy 79.77.253.58 (talk) 00:35, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

The Novels WikiProject Newsletter
Issue 30 - June 2009
Member news
  • Coordinators election. An election has been long overdue, and therefore one will begin shortly. If you wish to stand, please put your name in by June 28, when voting will start. Members are encouraged to vote for the candidate they wish to support by July 21 at the Coordinator Elections. The Ed17 has decided not to stand for re-election. His work as Assistant Coordinator, along with Kevinalewis, since the last elections in October is highly appreciated by all members of the project.
  • The Novels Project now has 128 active members.
  • 17 positions remain unfilled at the Job Centre. Members who are active project contributors are encouraged to apply even if they can only fill a position for a short time.
  • The His Dark Materials task force has been set up, and the role of coordinator has been undertaken by Pmlinediter.

Member in Focus
  • Hi, I have been a member of this project for a few months now, and after finally gotten to grips with Misplaced Pages I have decided to take on the role of writing this newsletter (currently by myself, but any help would be appreciated) with some helpful tips from The Ed17. After undertaking this I realise why it was so difficult to keep it going. I will, however, persevere. From the members, I would encourage you to vote in the Coordinator elections, and take up roles at the Job Centre. The project has struggled recently, and I am hoping to try and revive it. If, with the publication of this newsletter, there are a couple of things that aren't quite up-to-date (like the Collaboration part), you can be certain I am working on it. I will be trying to get a newsletter out on around the 21st of every month. Finally, thanks for the help Ed. Regards, Alan16 (talk) 23:41, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Current debates
  • A Kenneth Oppel task force has been proposed. You can comment here. Oppel is a Canadian author who specialises in Young adult fiction.
Novel related news
  • American writer Michael Hemp wins the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Award in the Action/Adventure category for his novel, The Nadjik Pheromone.
From the Outreach Department

This is my first attempt at the newsletter, and I hope it at least gets close to the previous high standards set by Kevinalewis and The Ed17. I will once again encourage you to vote in the Coordinator elections, as I hope it could be the springboard to revitalise the project. I'll keep working on the newsletter, partially because I like the stress, and partially because we need it to get members and would-be members interested. Hopefully the start of great things. Regards, Alan.

Collaboration of the Month
  • Because there has been little activity on our Collaboration page for a long time, I have made an executive decision, and chosen The Tin Drum as our Collaboration of the month.
All members are asked to assist where they can.
The next collaboration is due for selection on 21 July, 2009 so nominate and vote.
Newsletter challenge

This month's article is Mindplayers by science fiction author Pat Cadigan. It is a previous, uncompleted challenge.

DeskSpace

Hi Joshua,

I've updated the DeskSpace page to correct a few minor mistakes (like DeskSpace requiring DirectX 9) and add more information about the features and history of DeskSpace.

However, I understand there is a conflict of interest in me editing a page about software my company owns, so I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at the changes and remove/revert anything you find objectionable.

79.77.253.58 (talk) 00:35, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

A Suggestion/Question About The Archenemies Page... Abw2 (talk) 03:56, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello Joshua,

You don't know, I'm actually very new to this site as a member, but I have a suggestion if I may. I don't know if you're in charge of the Archenemies page, but if you are then I would like to suggest adding on the villain Seska (from Star Trek: Voyager) as one of Captain Kathryn Janeway archenemies, perhaps as Seska and The Borg Queen are the archenemies of Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager. I think that that would more accurate then simply listing The Borg Queen as Captain Janeway's archenemy. What do you think?

Amil

Hello Amil! Welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for your comment. You are right in that Seska should be listed as Captain Kathryn Janeway's arch-enemy. Upon searching the web for sources supporting this, I found the transcript of a 1996 interview with Kate Mulgrew, in which she refers to Seska as her arch-enemy. --Joshua Issac (talk) 20:18, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
