"A New Hope" is a reference to A New Hope, the subtitle of the original Star Wars film, as it contains numerous references to the Star Wars universe such as Han Solo, Lando, and Princess Leia.
"Degenerate" is a song written by Tom DeLonge, and was first released, in a slightly different form, in the 1993 release of Demo #2 or 2nd Demo. Then on Buddha, which was released the same year. It describes an alcoholic who keeps getting taken to prison for his actions where he receives the consequences from his prison-mate "Ben Dover".
"Boring", "Untitled", and "I'm Sorry" are all followed by brief spoken word skits.
"Lemmings" features a reference to the film Pulp Fiction with the line "..feeling that sting of pride, it's fucking with me, it's fucking with you." It is a reference to the Bruce Willis quote in the film, "You feel that sting big boy, huh? That's pride fucking with you. You gotta fight through that shit..."
"Dick Lips" is about an incident that occurred when Tom DeLonge was expelled from high school for showing up drunk to a basketball game.
