My Archives
Please don't go
What is this all about? You're an important contributor to Misplaced Pages, please don't say you are leaving? Can't sleep, clown will eat me 02:08, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Jorge????? I thought I recommended that you not withdraw? And I certainly did not expect you to leave wikipedia despite your upcoming GPA and baseball commitments. I am especially impressed that you are taking you GPA seriously.
- You have made a huge number of friends here in wikipedia. People who will be great mentors for you in the future and your contributions here are invaluable. Not only that but your grammar has improved dramatically since you arrived so I think it is a very good thing to participate here in regard to your GPA. What precipitated this? I hope it was not my oppose vote, I tried to make it as constructive as possible. I also told you that I was open to changing the vote if you made a good attempt to correct the copyright violation. Please don't take this to heart and come back. David D. (Talk) 02:29, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Also take down that withdrawal notice before anyone else sees it! You copuld easily win this RfA if you do what i suggested on Durins talk page. Seriously you underestimate the support you have in wikipedia. David D. (Talk) 02:32, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'll miss you :(. Be sure to drop in on IRC sometimes though. :)--Shanel 03:03, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Though I don't know you that well. Please don't leave. It is a sad departure. You have many friends on this wonderful place. Don't give up so easily, go for it! Anyway, all the best in your real life commitments. --Terence Ong 03:54, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Likewise. I would like to wish you all the best for your break and for your real life. Guettarda 02:58, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Leaving, the RfA, etc.
I would like to first echo comments made on my talk page by David . His comments are spot-on. Second, I'm going to reiterate what I said on your talk page earlier; you are an asset to Misplaced Pages. I want to encourage you to understand that becoming an admin is not a badge of honor. It is not a recognition for a job well done. It's not a certificate saying you passed review, or any other kind of imaginable honor. If you take it like that, then you will be sorely disappointed on becoming an admin because there are precious few "honors" past adminship, and getting another one is unlikely to happen. You would become depressed at not getting another "honor". Adminship isn't even a promotion per se; you would just be granted software rights to do certain things you couldn't do before.
With particular regards to leaving; I understand your reasons. But, I am not sure you personally believe the basis of those reasons if you thought about it for a bit. You are a reasonable person. You know that ArbCom elections mean being elected for a three year post. You would not put yourself up for ArbCom if you didn't feel you could fulfill the duty given you if elected. Thus, I think you did think of your upcoming time constraints and felt you could handle it anyways. So, I do think you have the time to still be involved in Misplaced Pages. Plus, I think being involved here will help you academically anyways. I'll lay odds your English skills are getting better! :)
Nobody says you have to be wildly active to contribute to Misplaced Pages or even be an admin. You've been editing a LOT lately. You can reduce the amount of time you spent here, up your grades, get your arm/toe taken care of, etc., and still be a fantastic asset to Misplaced Pages. A large number of people really want you here.
I'll make you an offer. I've never made an offer like this before. My guidelines for admin nomination are probably the highest around. Now, I'm not saying I will nominate you. But, I am offering to work very closely with you to set you up for the next RfA. I will be very happy to conduct periodic reviews of your work, say once a week, and make comments as appropriate to correct errors and point out how something might have been done better in my opinion. I'll do as much as I can to foster you along towards the next RfA so you are ready for it. When, after three months have passed, you go up for RfA, I won't nominate you but if you work with me and take most of my advice I will give you a very supportive vote, citing good work and the experience I had with you over the prior few months. For better or worse, my vote at RfA seems to carry some weight. If I vote in favor of you, I am confident several other people will vote in favor as well.
Now, first piece of advice; do NOT accept the next RfA that comes your way without first letting me review your answers and having an opportunity to discuss it with you. Second, don't accept an RfA until at least April 10th. Third, don't leave. We need you around here too much. Please! No, scatch that..when I say please, I mean please in THIS BIG of a way. Ok? Deal?
Now wait...before you respond...DON'T respond until you've had 24 hours to mull over this and wind down from the withdrawn RfA #4. You'll be much calmer and happier. THEN tell me we have a deal :) --Durin 03:24, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Your leaving
I am sorry to read that you are leaving. Please reconsider. You're a great asset to the project, admin or not. However, I do see the importance of your studies -- which should be your primary focus right now -- and so if it's difficult to stay here while staying focused, I do understand. Feel free to let me know if there's anything I can help with. --Nlu (talk) 03:31, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- I was sorry to read this too. You really are a good editor and vandal fighter. I hope you get better and come back soon. --a.n.o.n.y.m 07:37, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Nlu --pgk 11:53, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry to see you leave :( →FireFox 21:01, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry to see you leave, Esperanza and Misplaced Pages won't be the same. Please don't go away forever. I understand about your studies and the need to focus. Good luck with baseball and your arm surgery and enjoy your senior year and do consider coming back.--Dakota ~ ε 00:20, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Your health, grades and your baseball team should come before Misplaced Pages. Good choice. I hope you make room for Misplaced Pages somewhere in there because I, too, have seen you as a very valuable vandal fighter growing steadily in your editing skills. Take your time and come back when you feel ready. You'll certainly be welcomed home. -- DS1953 01:37, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for your Speedy Support on my request for adminiship, I'm sure you'll be glad to know the final result was 92/1/0. I am now an administrator and (as always) if I do anything you have issue with, please talk about it with me.
I understand that your heading into a busy part of your life and hope the best for you in it. I hope you'll pop your head into IRC occasionally and play a quick game of whack-a-vandal with me. Take care --Alf 08:49, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Pgk's RFAThanks for your support on my request for adminship.
The final outcome was (80/3/0), so I am now an administrator. I was flattered by the level of support and the comments, so I'm under real pressure not to disappoint, thus if you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as an admin then please leave me a note --pgk 10:08, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Wow
Well it's a bummer seeing you go; we're losing a very committed editor. Thanks for everything, including my RFA. Hope that you can come back when things settle down, and good luck at school... --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 02:07, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
I appreciate the help and support from you and hope you can come back when things settle down. Cause we still have the fight the power! Yeah, I'm feeling your pain! I might retire from editing with Misplaced Pages. I am tired of fighting this battle with the same old thing over and over again. One way or another, I hope to find a neutral web encylopedia. Good luck in school, and well be seeing you around soon! Thanks again. LILVOKA.
Thank you
Francs2000's BureaucratshipThanks for your support on my request for bureaucratship.
The final outcome was (70/5/0), so I am now a bureaucrat. I seriously didn't expect so many good comments from everybody and I appreciated the constructive criticism from those that gave it. If you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as a bureaucrat then please leave me a note. -- Francs2000 21:40, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Arbcom
Greetings. I saw you withdrew from Arbcom, and I just wanted to send you some good cheer and tell you I hope you stick around - you make Misplaced Pages a better place. Warm regards, – Quadell 15:28, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with that completely. Stay around — you are appreciated here. AnnH 20:36, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
IRC
Not worth saving this but I see you are logged into IRC. Love to chat about the wikiproject. ℬastique▼♥♑ 01:02, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Welcome!
Dear Jaranda: I see you have decided to join Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Cuba, the first of a series of wikiprojects on several Latino countries I plan to build. As you can see, before you came, I was the only one working on the Cuban project. The page is badly in need of a makeover, at least as far as the wikibox goes, and there is a lot of work to do about Cuba and it's culture.
Regardless, your being there is treasured by me. I want to thank you very much for adding your name to the list. I think you might find my article, Ofelia Fox, interesting. Since Im Puerto Rican and involved in other Hispanic wikiprojects, Im gonna be a somewhat infrequent collaborator, however, I hope wikiproject:Cuba is the first step towards uniting Hispanic writers at wikipedia.
Thankyou very uch and God bless you! And once again, welcome to our project!
Sincerely yours, Antonio Cuba la Bella Martin 13:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

My RfA
I have decided to withdraw my nomination, due to growing oppose votes due to my lack of experence (and because of userboxes?). I will now aim to continue, and broadern my scope from userboxes. I will accept a nomination, should one be made, in 1-2 months. IanID:540053 18:20, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Chucky Mullins
Hi there. You nominated Chuckie Mullins for deletion, and I just wondered if you were aware that he had been the subject of a film. You may have had trouble finding information about him because his name is more usually spelled Chucky. After Googling that spelling, I think he looks pretty notable.
