Olympic Highway is a New South Wales trunk road that links Cowra and Albury at a distance of 338 kilometres. It is designated National Route 41 and was formerly known simply as Olympic Way. It was named as it was the path that the Olympic Torch took on its journey to Melbourne for the 1956 Summer Olympics.
From Albury to Cootamundra it runs parallel with the Sydney-Melbourne railway line. Olympic Way offers an alternative route from Albury to Sydney as it links Hume Highway to Mid-Western Highway and Great Western Highway via Bathurst.
Major towns enroute include:
Olympic Torch relay
For the 1956 Summer Olympics the Olympic Flame, or torch, was carried along the road from Cowra to Wagga Wagga. The torch was carried from Cairns to Melbourne. For the 2000 Summer Olympics the torch was carried from Wagga Wagga to Cowra in mid-August en route to Sydney.
