American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions, (AAATI), is an unlicensed accredition group with an unknown board created in the late 1980s. They lack the approval of US Department of Education. The group is considered an accredition mill (see diploma mill) because they will appove accredition for $100 and have educational few requirements. They are described by Steve Levicoff as an meaningless accreditation mill that religious schools cite as approval to offer degrees and avoid appearing as a diploma mill. The agency is based in Rocky Mount, NC.
