==Guenhwyvar==

On the Guenhwyvar page, you reverted my edits that Guenhwyvar is actually male. I am sorry to inform you of this, but Guenhwyvar IS a male. according to chapter 17 "vengenace" in Salvatore's ''The Crystal Shard'', drizzt says, quote:

:"Guenhwyvar is no demon," Drizzt reassured his large companion . '''He''' is a valuable friend and ally."

Thus, I added the "gender controversy" subsection to the panther's characteristics.

Please understand. I will not begin a revert war, so I ask that all versions of "she" be turned to "it", and rewrite the gender controversy section accordingly.

userpage discussions

Hi, I see you left a note with Jvian already about your userpage. I left both of them a note and moved their discussions to their talk pages. I left the one that you left originally, just rv'd the two latest ones. They were moved to User talk:Jvian & User talk:Eduardo Cuellar respectively. I just wanted to give you a heads up on what I did. Cheers. Who?¿? 08:33, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

my userpage

Actually, it was a "friendly vandal" who came through and tweaked the layout. It's always looked fine on my screen! :-) I'm not up for going around and doing rigorous testing on different setups, so I suppose I should simplify it. Anyway, thanks for the feedback! Nomen nudum

You marked nomen nudum for speedy deletion. But the article was in fact quite correct. Please take more care. Gdr 15:37:18, 2005-07-31 (UTC)

At the time, it was patent nonsense. Jarlaxle 20:17, July 31, 2005 (UTC)

No, it wasn't. The revision you marked for speedy deletion was quite correct, as a simple Google search would have told you. Gdr 21:42:33, 2005-07-31 (UTC)

Oops. My mistake. Jarlaxle 21:50, July 31, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome

I don't need to say anything else ... nice to be welcomed, thank you. WP can be a place of overwhelming "cliqueness", where sensible edits are instantly removed by "members" for no legitimate reason other than the poster is not a member. I will work to change that, and my undesireable activities will cease shortly, once I have had enough fun with certain members.

Thanks again. oops --Zippydeedoodah 22:15, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Dambrath

Thank you for the modifications on Dambrath :-) Reply to David Latapie 11:32, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

Problems with font

Hi there, I saw your complaint on the am.wiki, I haven't actually tried the solution on that page so I can't vouch for that one, but there is another solution you can link to from the Main Page, just look for the English words "Can't see the font?" and try that method...

If that doesn't work, it could be a Unicode issue with your windows or browser system...

Regards, Codex Sinaiticus 15:54, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

Ah, thanks. Jarlaxle 23:42, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Sandbot malfunction

That was caused by a page move. Please be aware that Sandbot is a valid bot, and any concerns over hiccups and such should be directed to my user talk page. Thank you. --AllyUnion (talk) 23:10, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

About translating

Hello, you welcomed me the other day and I thank you.

But I have a question about style in the Misplaced Pages and I didn't found in the Manual of Style, and I don't know where to ask someone else, so you are the one closest.

Right now I'm working on a project to have info about bands from Latin America in the Misplaced Pages, but I don't know where I should translate and where not, can you explain me?

Should I translate the name of the band? I saw some bands with their names translated, but I also saw others without it translated.

Should I translate the name of the albums and songs of the band? I haven't seen any bands with this translated, but in the articles I made I translated them.

Thank you very much and sorry for bothering, and sorry for forgeting about signing my message. --Nicanor5 23:18, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

New and improved

From my talk page:

Lord Voldemort How's that for a signature? Jarlaxle 19:41, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

It's not too bad, except I like having a bigger link for my talk page. I'll stick with what I have for the time being, but may opt for something more like your suggestion in the future. Cheers. --Lord Voldemort 19:45, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

Recent edits' formatting

I realize you've been gone a while: in the interim, there is consensus on the "External Links" vs. "External links" (that's why Bluebot is allowed to go around fixing them); specifically, it's been decided (http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_%28headings%29#Standard_headings_and_ordering) that "External links" will exclusively be used. --Maru (talk) Contribs 05:17, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

I see. I'm disappointed by that consensus. Except for articles ( ie. the), conjunctions, prepositions, and possibly some other word categories, the words in headings are supposed to be capitalized. <font color="black">&rArr;</font> <font face="Euclid Fraktur"> <font color="darkgreen">Jarlaxle</font><font color="goldenrod">Artemis</font></font> 05:23, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Forgotten Realms Project

Hi,

We are working on a Forgotten Realms Project to map Toril (mostly Faerûn, at the present). Since you contributed quite a lot on a Forgotten Realms-specific entry, I'd like to invite you to join the project, so we could improve the “Mapping the Realms” project.

The goal is to create a sort of World Factbook for the Realms. This means:

  • A consistent content
  • Use of templates
  • Entries should be limited to “sovereign places”: states and free cities, as well a moderately-inhabited place such as the Western Highlands.

On top of this, we also plan to cover Lost Empires, such as Pelvuria or Imaskar and, of course, Netheril

Main contributors are presently

Feel free to take a look. We hope to see you soon mapping the Realms with us! Reply to David Latapie 12:16, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Phobias

Please read the -phobia article carefully and don't add phobias about whoch there is nothing specific to say beyond dictionary definition. Please add them to wiktionary. You may want to expand the wiktionary:Category:Phobias, startind from categorizing phobias fromwiktionary:User:TheDaveRoss/phobias.

You may also want to read Talk:-phobia#There isn't a single thing someone hasn't a phobia about and other discussion. mikka (t) 02:19, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Once again: as with any other lists in wikipedia, like List of websites, Internet phenomenon, etc., to list something, you must prove its notability. The -phobia article spells it. Please don't pump coinages that don't have significant usage. Note: references from snake oil psycho websites don't count. They collect everything that floats on net. mikka (t) 06:18, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

You wrote: there is plenty of dicdefs, and several more will not hurt. Well. I am working carefully weeding out bullshit from the page. Ideally all from the bottom list must either go or move up, into solid section. But I am realistic and dont' delete everything just because they don't have articles yet. Most of what's left are common phobias with chance to have an article. Please, don't add helpless terms that cannot go beyond dicdef. mikka (t) 06:23, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Image tags

When are you going to cleanup your image tags? I've been asking you about this for a year now. Unless I hear from you I'm going to start marking them for deletion. -Willmcw 02:53, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, I never realized that my image tags were dirty. JarlaxleArtemis 03:13, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes, they are naughty and incorrect. We've lready been over the problems many times, so I assume you know what to do. Thakns for helping out. -Willmcw 06:38, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Just to chime in, the main problem I see is lack of source, and under current rules that forces deletion in seven days. You may notice that some of the images in your gallery have already been deleted, so the process is underway. Stan 18:29, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

-phobia

"Listed in a textbook": ...and in a hundred of other places. Good luck for them there. Wiktionary is the place for them. mikka (t) 01:26, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

That's what I thought. Just made it because I was about two seconds from flaming TheCoffee with the very fires of Hell a couple minutes ago. Question...

So I like what you did with the twinkle article. I hjust wonder if it is worth having almost indentical info there as in the drizzt main article...

Chultan Peninsula

Hi, the move from Chultan peninsula -> Chultan Peninsula created a few double redirects which should be fixed, please see Misplaced Pages:double redirects. Poulsen 03:38, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

?

I've just deleted your recent redirects, which were displayed as a standalone question mark character. Please review Talk: for my reasoning. -- Longhair 06:49, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

I see you're again creating these redirects. Help me as I'm still mis-understanding here. If the characters you're adding redirecting to Tengwar can't be entered on a standard keyboard, what value do they hold here? Who's going to enter them directly, or create a link, if they can't be typed? -- Longhair 01:55, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Beats me. JarlaxleArtemis 01:57, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Isn't that a perfect case for deletion then, if they'll never be used? -- Longhair 02:00, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
I never said they won't be used; I just don't know who will use them. JarlaxleArtemis 02:02, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Can you tell me how I can use them? What needs to be installed to do so? It seem you're able to enter them ok. I'm not against them, I'm just trying to see the logic in adding them. -- Longhair 02:05, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
There's info and a download for the Unicode version here. JarlaxleArtemis 02:09, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for that catch of my mistake, I've corrected it. --Krich (talk) 07:50, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

There is no real need to italicise "Misplaced Pages" and "Misplaced Pages Watch". NSLE (T+C+CVU) 03:03, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

They are the names of websites. It's like italicizing Google Watch, which is done in the first paragraph of the article. JarlaxleArtemis
It makes no sense to italicise "Misplaced Pages" when elsewhere on Misplaced Pages it isn't. NSLE (T+C+CVU) 03:08, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Then elsewhere on Misplaced Pages is incorrect. JarlaxleArtemis 03:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

Request for edit summary

When editing an article on Misplaced Pages there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 06:34, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
PS: When you post to the Village Pump, where the edit summary is the main way somebody can tell what is going on, using edit summaries is even more requested. You have been told. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 06:34, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Elminster

Sorry about the Elminster thing. The whole idea of that character just rubs me the wrong way. — Stratosalexandros 00:17, January 15, 2006

Why's that? (It doesn't have to do with the Elmara thing, does it? If you've read Elminster: The Making of a Mage, you'll know what I'm talking about.) JarlaxleArtemis 01:53, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Lords of the Nine Hells

You removed the category "Greyhawk Deities" from this article because you feel these are not deities. list redirect

Just a friendly note to say you redirected my japanoise artist list to japanese artists, although I actually meant japanoise (i.e. ジャパノイズ = "japanoise", aka 'Japanese noise'), a musicians sub-genre list. Hope there's no future misunderstanding. Nagelfar 17:31, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Sorry about that. There isn't an article called Japanoise, so I thought it was a typo. JarlaxleArtemis 03:48, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Understandable, it's closely enough related in explaination that it is covered in the 'noise music' article; I'll go ahead and make a 'Japanoise' redirect to it now. Though I feel I should say, even if it were a typo, it would be helpful to wikipedia as a whole to incorporate any new information when & if you're going to take the initative to redirect a duplicate article; merging them. One of the things that I would have assumed should have stopped any misunderstanding would have been the fact that none of those recording artists I listed were already on any list of Japanese artists. A little extra attention paid should have caught that. Anyway, All the best to you, Nagelfar 05:02, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

User:JarlaxleArtemis/Image Gallery

Hi, I took the liberty of turning this gallery page into a list of links instead. There where a large number of fair use images there (76 acording to this report) and our policy is to now allow such images to be used on userpages or subpages thereof. Feel free to pick out any free licensed images you have contributed and show them in a gallery though, I only listified them all indiscriminately because it was a lot faster than checking each and every image to see if it was fair use or not. --Sherool (talk) 16:28, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi again, I reverted your revert. As I said feel free to show any free licensed images you have uploaded in a gallery, but displaying fair use images on userpages (and user subpages) violate Misplaced Pages fair use policy (See Misplaced Pages:Fair use#Fair use policy (point #9)), so don't just revert back to the full gallery. Thanks. --Sherool (talk) 23:37, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Ed Greenwood.jpg

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ed Greenwood.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 05:45, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
