She replaces Agent Elle Greenaway in the BAU, surprising both Aaron Hotchner and Jason Gideon, as neither of them had signed off on the transfer. Prentiss insists that her mother has not pulled any strings for her to get the assignment, and initially joins the team on a probationary basis.
