Agios is also a transliteration of Greek 'Άγιος', meaning 'Holy'. It is equivalent to the English-language epithet 'Saint'. For example, St John is known in Greek and related languages as 'Agios Ioannis'. Greek 'Άγιος' may also be transliterated as 'Aghios'.
