Roosevelt is the largest giant sequoia in the largest sequoia grove - Redwood Mountain Grove. Redwood Mountain Grove is the largest grove of Giant Sequoias on earth. It is located in Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Forest, at 36°41′38″N 118°55′08″W / 36.69389°N 118.91889°W / 36.69389; -118.91889 in California's Sierra Nevada. The tallest giant sequoia on earth (311 ft) is also located in this grove, along with the Hart tree which is just smaller than the Roosevelt tree. The Hart tree is 278 feet (85 m) tall, with a volume of 34,407 cubic feet (974.3 m). The Roosevelt tree however has a volume of 35,000 cubic feet (990 m).
The tree is ranked 22nd of the 30 largest giant sequoias, as of December 2002.
