JLS is the debut album from British boyband JLS. The album was released in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2009, and debuted at #1 on the UK and Ireland Album Charts.

Singles

• "Beat Again" was the debut release by the band, following their success on the 2008 series of the X Factor. The song was especially successful on the UK Singles Chart, debuting at #1, selling 106,299 copies. The single became the second fasest-selling single of 2009, behind "Bonkers", by Dizzee Rascal. Sales currently stand at 509,153.

• "Everybody in Love" was released as the second single from the album. On 8 November 2009, the song topped the UK Singles Chart, by selling over 121,000 copies in one week. Sales currently stand at 403,258.

• "One Shot" was released as the third and final single from the album on February 22, 2010. The song has peaked in the UK Singles Chart at #6. Sales currently stand at 302,493.

Digital Spy said of the album:

While the irresistibly catchy pop/R&B of 'Beat Again' amply justifies the initial excitement, the mushy and borderline generic follow-up 'Everybody In Love' is more indicative of what's in store on their first album. It often feels as though they've raided the boyband vaults from the turn of the century and scrubbed up the rusty results with some modern production polish, with only the odd gem standing out amongst the wealth of disposable, derivative material here. Prime offenders? Well, 'Close To You' is a classically cutesy boyband love song with lyrics perfect for a Smash Hits Songwords card: "London, Paris, Tokyo, thinking of you wherever I go." The flamenco-infused 'Heal This Heartbreak' is given extra oomph by some Kanye-style vocal trickery, but it still manages to sound more Now 39 than 2009. Then there's the drippy 'Crazy For You', a track as achingly bland as an old 911 B-side.

In the United States the album was issued as a six track EP featuring their three UK singles, their new single "The Club is Alive" and two other tracks from the UK version of the album.

Charts

Their debut album entered the Irish Albums Chart on the November 12, 2009. In the UK the band beat Robbie Williams to get their first number one album. Both JLS and Williams's tenth solo album Reality Killed The Video Star sold over 200,000 copies, making them the fastest-selling albums of the year so far. The race to number one was so tight that JLS beat Williams to the top spot by a margin of less than 1%. First week sales were said to be more around 230,000 copies. The album has now been certified 2x Platinum in Ireland while in the UK its 4x Platinum and was the sixth best-selling album of 2009 in the UK. The album has sold a total of over 1,200,000+ copies in the UK as of 25 June 2010.
