For the 1885–1922 constituency, see West Mayo (UK Parliament constituency).

Template:Dáil Éireann former constituency infobox Mayo West was a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas from 1969 to 1997. The constituency was served by 3 deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known in English as TDs). The method of election was the single transferable vote form of proportional representation (PR-STV).

History and boundaries

The constituency was created under the terms of the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1969, taking in parts of the former Mayo North and Mayo South constituencies, and included Ballinrobe, Belmullet, Castlebar and Westport. With effect from the 1997 general election it was combined with Mayo East to form a new 5 seat Mayo constituency.
