Revision as of 20:22, 16 February 2006
{{userbox|id=pedo|info=OMG!!! This user has been attracted to underage females while not underage himself! This user should be banned!}}
This is the userbox that got SPUI banned by ArbCom for 10 days, his user page protected blank, and his user talk page reverted and protected, and that got Analogdemon threatened with a one-week block. Its code has been placed here in the interest of openness, so others can see easily what the fuss is about. It is not being placed here to make it easier for others to use it - it is already available in various page histories, as well as in the ArbCom decision. It simply generates the above text in an ugly gray box. |
Please do not remove comments from this page under no personal attacks. As far as I can remember, I have never removed personal attacks directed at me from here. Now I ask the same of you - don't remove comments directed at me or at others. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 19:48, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- The skinny on why the fat lady has sung
I joined Misplaced Pages over a year ago. At the time, I was part of the Gay Nigger Association of America, and made some trolling edits. But I realized there was something here that was rather cool, and eventually left the GNAA in favor of spending more time here. I've had some issues with "notability" of certain road articles. And all this time I had my userpage. I got a few complaints, but there was a general feeling of "live and let live", and I decided that if it ever got to the point where I was banned for something on my userpage or had it deleted, I would quit.
Then the userbox shit came up, and I began to sense the noose tightening around me. People were being attacked for the content of their userpages, and I could not be far behind. The whole deletion/deletion review of list of state-named Avenues in Washington, D.C. almost made me leave about a month ago, but I was unable to stay away - that's how addictions are. (And I was able to circumvent what seemed like a consensus to delete by pasting the list in the new category I created.)
And now, this. I decide to have a bit of fun on my userpage and poke fun at current issues and idiotic Arbcom decisions. It is blanked by an admin, and when I revert, I am blocked for vandalism. It is deleted and protected, and now Arbcom is considering sanctions against me, all for having a bit of fun on my userpage.
I find it especially amusing that some of the people trying to convince me to stay below have also been part of making me feel unwelcome. Good job, guys. One would think you'd notice that you're turning this place into shit.
Template:Deletedtalkpage Ugh, I need something to do. Not Misplaced Pages - it no longer wants me. I'm bloody bored.
- SPUI, I just do not understand you. You do excellent work on transport articles, and then muck it up by going out of your way to cause havoc. Perhaps you might want to consider my previous comment here Raul654 00:17, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Editing my user page is hardly "going out of my way". Nice try. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 00:21, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- You realise of course we're saying this because we love you and losing you with a stupid template strikes us as a tragedy? You're a great and productive editor and I'm a solid fan, but JESUS FUCK THERE'S A TIME NOT TO MAKE A WP:POINT *facepalm* - David Gerard 00:23, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- I did not make a POINT. The only disruption was caused by those who opposed my actions on my own user page. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 00:28, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- SPUI, given the dispute we had earlier in the week, one which I am confident you were fully aware of - did you not, just for a second, stop to think that maybe adding that template (20 times) to your userpage would have caused trouble? Raul654 00:33, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
If you leave Misplaced Pages, I'll eat you and your precious ducks. --TantalumTelluride 00:31, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Tell ArbCom that. Fucking dicks. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 00:36, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
SPUI is just being silly, as usual. Sheesh! It's amazing people still pay attention to the dude at all ;-) Could everyone maybe take a chill-pill? Kim Bruning 00:46, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not being silly. I'm pretty sure I'm leaving now, if I can just find something else to do. I can't get a job until my back gets better, but that doesn't seem to be happening. I'm pretty fucked. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 00:53, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
By the way, I hope you guys realize that if I had joined now instead of over a year ago, I probably would not have stayed. Have a look at my early contribs. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 01:36, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- No I meant with the pedophile tag. Terrible terrible taste there :-P We should put your userpage on some tutorial on "how not to make a userpage" ;-) Oh well :-) Hope you stick around dude! Kim Bruning 01:40, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Good luck in overthrowing the arbcom dude! --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 01:43, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't understand why so many people are getting upset about the pedophilia userbox hullabaloo. For that matter, I don't know why so many users have resolved to leave recently based on disputes in the user space and templates intended for the user space. We all ought to be thankful that Jimbo has granted us the privilege of maintaining user pages rather than arguing about what can and can't be displayed. If you're going to leave, do it in protest of a dispute over our actual encyclopedic content. Who cares about the user space anyway? I know I'm getting dramatic again, but I want you to know how stupid I think this whole dispute is. It's not worth your time. You should save your leaving Misplaced Pages for a dispute that actually matters. --TantalumTelluride 04:31, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- See my penis? Suck on it. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 04:47, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- lol. That wasn't quite the response I expected. Then again, no one ever knows what to expect from you. If you succeed in leaving the project, I hope you can find something else to devote your unique talents to. --TantalumTelluride 05:00, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, want a better answer? Jimbo ought to be thankful that we're all here to write his nice encyclopedia for him. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 05:09, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

"I find it especially amusing that some of the people trying to convince me to stay below have also been part of making me feel unwelcome."
Well, it's hard to come up with good reasons to convince you to stay because about half of your edits are obscene or aggressive or ridiculously irrelevent. The only reason I keep editing this talk page is because I think your "undesirable" edits are far outweighed by your productive contributions. Unfortunately, my arguements usually turn into confusing, pretentious, often meaningless rants that make you feel even more unwelcome. Please assume good faith with respect to me as well as the other editors involved in the pedophilia-userbox incident. I know that many admins (of the so-called cabal) have not assumed good faith towards you and your contributions, but you can be the bigger Wikipedian by dismissing their judgements and continuing to edit the encyclopedic portion of Misplaced Pages with pride, barring any blocks that might keep you from doing your job. If you want me to stop editing your talk page (as that template up there suggests), just let me know. Okay, now you can insult me and tell me which types of sexual acts you would like me to perform. --TantalumTelluride 06:49, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Nah, I'm not talking about you, but the admins/Arbcom people. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 06:51, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising
The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Misplaced Pages, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Misplaced Pages in the Misplaced Pages namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Misplaced Pages history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Misplaced Pages altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Misplaced Pages namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:26, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- Did you not read the top of my talk page? Good fucking bye. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 01:08, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
OK, two issues here
- C'mon man, you know that you were violating WP:POINT!
- We should not have deleted your user page. Sorry about that.
Please, stay with us SPUI. You're an important contributor, and I for one value what you give us, even if you do still annoy the crap out of me sometimes. - Ta bu shi da yu 15:43, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Pedophilia userbox wheel war
I'm recused from clerking this, but I don't suppose it means that I can't fill in for Raul654's omissions. The case has been closed and an administrator has blocked you for ten days to implement the ban in Remedy 10.2. When you return you'll be on probation (see the decision for full details) which you can appeal on grounds of good behavior after two months. --Tony Sidaway 00:45, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

A good article in need of some love
I know you've left and all, but Track transition curves is an interesting subject about which I have neither the expertise or the resources to do anything with. But I know that you do. We are really going to miss you, and regardless of you disruptive or offensive you might appear, some people do appreciate your attempts at humour, despite being "in bad taste" or whatever else. I don't think that the ArbCom did the right thing in banning you for the time period that they did, but you have to realise the immense pressure from all sides, and you got caught in the middle of it all. I still think that what you did was stupid, and that you should have been blocked, but only for the duration of the ArbCom case. Anyway, hope things go well for you in the future. Regards, Alphax 13:35, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ick. Engineering is not my subject. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 13:41, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Fuck you all
As someone who has known SPUI personally for six years, I'm going to tell all of you, Arbcom people, trolls, etc. to go stick your heads up your fucking asses and leave them there. You have driven away a prolific editor who has contributed unbelievable amounts of knowledge to this project and for that, all of you fuckheads should be banned. Every last fucking one of you. Just because he likes to have FUCKING FUN while also editing Misplaced Pages, you chastise him for that? To everyone who has done that, I say FUCK YOU! You all take yourselves way too fucking seriously and you all should take some goddamn ritalin and straighten yourselves out. Go get laid, or do something and get a fucking life outside Misplaced Pages. You're a bunch of fucking Wikiprudes who need serious fucking help. Go fuck yourselves. Yeah, that's right, consider this a blanket PERSONAL FUCKING ATTACK on absolutely fucking everyone who has contributed to SPUI's leaving. So fucking ban me. You all can bob on my fucking cock. I added the Pedo box 64 times to my userpage because I think it's fucking funny. What the fuck are you gonna do about it? --Analogdemon (talk) 15:21, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Point and laugh, actually. The irony is that you have accused us of taking ourselves too seriously, and now look at you, working yourself to a lather. - Ta bu shi da yu 14:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Looking through what links to my userpage
Found this:
- I strongly disagree with the resurrection of the page's entire history and suggest that a more sensible approach would be to selectively delete revisions, so as to discourage SPUI from further activities incompatible with the project to produce a high quality encyclopedia. --Tony Sidaway 19:00, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations; you've done just that. There's also an interesting vote for undeletion - there are actually a decent number of people who feel this moral panic has gone too far. I'm not sure if any are admins, but they probably won't be for long. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 19:59, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Katie Holmes
You commented on the talk page of this article. I'm hoping to get it featured soon and would welcome your comments at Misplaced Pages:Peer review/Katie Holmes. PedanticallySpeaking 21:18, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ahahahahaha, do people not read this page before they post? I guess not - I don't always read other people's pages. I'm blocked for 10 days. I'm not coming back to edit even after the block ends. Obviously you can however reach me here, as Misplaced Pages is still useful as a resource. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 21:56, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and it looks like my only edit to that talk page was to ask what the hell a Scientology link was doing as the first external link. No offense, but that's hardly a reason to care whether the article is featured. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 22:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, re-reading that comment, it seems a bit assholish. I am feeling a bit assholish right now. It's nothing towards you. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 23:15, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Bullshit.
This whole situation. When the fuck did this become such a big deal? Fuck it. I'm sorry, man.--jfg284 11:45, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
And now, something about articles
You need to get in touch with User:Rgclegg, a friend of mine, who is a mathematician specialising in road networks, traffic flows and so on. I think you two could get some good road-nerdery going on. (I mentioned you to him on Friday.) - David Gerard 14:05, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- That applies even if you aren't going to edit any more - David Gerard 14:06, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Eh, doesn't look like my sort of stuff. Sorry. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 23:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Ducks
Hi, I don't really know you, but could you please explain the ducks to me? This is the third time someone said something funny about ducks and then linked to your page, but now the page is deleted. Is there a way I can see the old page? Also, I think your pedophile user box was funny. Hdstubbs 21:27, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- Image:Ducks in a pram.jpg. Also, the history of my page is not actually deleted. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 23:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Thank you
When I first saw you on Misplaced Pages, you were a troll. Pramduck! So whenever I've discussed you, there was always a tinge of "he can be a vandal, but he does awesome edits." Thank you for admitting your membership in the GNAA and your eventual redemption - that helps a lot, it made a lot of sense, and I will no longer think of you as a vandal. I do hope you'll stay, us transcruft folks love you. Take a break, a lengthy one if need be, and let this die down, but don't let the assholes win. --Golbez 22:21, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
