John Henson was born on July 11, 1967 in Stamford, Connecticut and is best known as the former host, writer and co-executive producer of the Emmy award-winning Talk Soup on E! Entertainment Television. Talk Soup is a daily round up of the best highlights from morning, daytime and late night talk shows. During his 4 1/2 - year tenor (from 1995 to 1999), John hosted over 1,100 shows, took Talk Soup to Tahiti and Australia, and performed live to a sold out audience at the Chicago Theatre.
An actor/comedian, Henson began his professional career as a stand-up comic. With his animated stage presence and unique style, he soon began headlining top comedy clubs around the country. Trained as a dramatic actor, Henson has appeared in movies, on television and on stage. In 1998, he appeared opposite of Ben Gazzara, Kevin Dillon and Andrew McCarthy in the feature, Stag, and co-starred in the film Bar Hopping with Tom Arnold, Kelly Preston, Sally Kellerman and Kevin Nealon. Henson has also appeared in the film, Life without Dick which stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Harry Connick Jr.
Henson’s television credits include The View and Politically Incorrect (ABC), Remember WENN (AMC), Stand Up, Stand Up and Two Drink Minimum (Comedy Central) and Caroline’s Comedy Hour (A&E). Henson has hosted multiple television specials on ABC including The Best Commercials You’ve Never Seen.
He also starred in his own ABC Primetime Network Special, The Television Show with John Henson, which was produced by Dakota Films. The show combined storyline, guests and incredible highlights into a fresh and original format. In addition to co-creating the concept, Henson served as co-executive producer, writer and host.
John studied acting at Boston University, Circle in the Square, Playwrights Horizons and Three of Us Studios in New York City. He has starred in various theatre productions such as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Conduct Unbecoming, Heinous Crimes and Other Delights, The Greenhouse Effect and Remote Evolution.
John Henson's most recent project was the short-lived The John Henson Project which was aired on Spike TV in 2004.
