Closing instructions

"WP:RM" redirects here. For requested mergers, see Misplaced Pages:Proposed mergers. For removals, see Misplaced Pages:Guide to deletion. For page history mergers, see Misplaced Pages:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. See also Category:Requests to move a userspace draft.
This page has an administrative backlog that requires the attention of willing administrators.
This notice will be automatically removed by RM bot (talk) when the backlog is cleared.

Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Misplaced Pages. For information on retitling files, categories, and other items, see § When not to use this page.

Before moving a page or requesting a move, please review the article titling policy and the guidelines on primary topics.

Any autoconfirmed user can move a page using the "Move" option in the editing toolbar; see how to move a page for more information. If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:

  • Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. In such cases, see § Requesting technical moves.
  • Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
  • A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
  • A page should not be moved and a new move discussion should not be opened when there is already an open move request on a talk page. Instead, please participate in the open discussion.
  • Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.

Requests are typically processed after seven days. If consensus supports the move at or after this time, a reviewer will perform it. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved." When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time, or closed as "no consensus". See Misplaced Pages:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.

Misplaced Pages:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.

When not to use this page

Shortcuts

Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:

Undiscussed moves

Shortcuts

Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:

  • No article exists at the new target title;
  • There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
  • It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.

If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.

Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.

Uncontroversial requests

If there has been any past debate about the best title for the page, or if anyone could reasonably disagree with the move, then treat it as controversial. Otherwise, post your request in the sub-section Current requests immediately below this section. If the page has recently been moved without discussion, then you may revert the move (although this is not necessary) and initiate a discussion of the move on the talk page of the article. (See also: Misplaced Pages:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle.) If this reversion requires administrator assistance, it is also eligible to be listed here. When listing this kind of request, please include a link showing that you have attempted to discuss the page move first.

If the move you are suggesting is uncontroversial (e.g. spelling and capitalization), please feel free to move the page yourself. If you cannot move the page yourself, then request it below. Only list proposals here that are clearly uncontroversial but require assistance from an administrator or confirmed user.

If the only obstacle to an uncontroversial move is a navigation aid (e.g., a redirect or an unnecessary disambiguation page with a minor edit history), the template {{db-move}} can be used instead to have that page deleted under criterion for speedy deletion G6. Note that this template requires two parameters: {{db-move|page to be moved here|reason for move}}.

Otherwise list new uncontroversial requests at the bottom of the the sub-section "Current requests" immediately below this section using {{subst:RMassist|Old page name|Requested name|Reason for move}} (rather than copying other entries). The template will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. No edits to the article's talk page are required.

If you object to a proposal listed in Current requests, please re-list it in the Contested requests section below.

  • (Discuss)KN-02 ToksaHwasong-11 – These cases are similar to Hwasong-7 and Hwasong-10. The Hwasong-7 and Hwasong-10 are commonly referred to using external name given by United States (Rodong/Nodong and Musudan, respectively). These articles using official North Korea desginations. According to a The Hankyoreh article (here), "In many cases, the names given by other countries have entered more common usage than the names given by the countries that actually produced them. This has to do with the practice of most countries declining to give the actual name of missiles in the development stages or actual key use, due to reasons of military secrecy". KN-02, KN-06 and KN-19 have official North Korean designation (Hwasong-11, Pongae-5 and Kumsong-3, respectively), suggesting the revelation of official names. The M142 HIMARS (whose common name is HIMARS), and UGM-133 Trident II (whose common name is Trident II or Trident II D5) using official United States's designations, therefore, it seems unfair for North Korean missile articles to use the US designation (KN-xx) as title, although the official North Korean designations are known. And the common name policy appears to be not suitable for these cases. Therefore, the above articles (KN-02 Toksa, KN-06 and KN-19) should be moved per above. • (Discuss)DextroamphetamineDexamfetamine – To conform with Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style/Medicine-related articles which specifies that articles on drugs should use the INN (dexamfetamine) as the article title. This was requested as a technical move, but contested on the grounds that the current title is in common usage in certain areas of the field of medicine (i.e. the US). I would argue that the entire point of Misplaced Pages adopting a standard such as the use of the INN is to avoid favouring one area of usage over another, for example the use of the INN Paracetamol as an article title over the US English Acetominophin. Further afield, the usage of Aluminium over Aluminum clearly demonstrates that common usage in US English is not sufficient grounds to prefer a US English name over the accepted standard name. • (Discuss)East TimorTimor-Leste – Previous moves have established that Portuguese sources, Australian sources, CIA, UN, and others do use Timor-Leste which arguably makes it common name, but previous moves failed because Timor-Leste is supposedly a political name. It is not. In Indonesia, the country from which Timor-Leste gained independence, Timor-Leste is the name of the country, and East Timor (province) is the name of the former province. Timor Leste (without the dash) is the article title of the country in the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Basa Bali, Jawa, Sunda, Acèh, Minangkabau. Timor Timur (translation of East Timor without disambiguation) is the article name of the province in the following languages: Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu. The languages are explained in the following paragraph. Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) is the lingua franca of Indonesia and is a variant of Bahasa Melayu. Bahasa Melayu (Malay language) is the lingua franca of the region including countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and others. Basa Bali (Balinese language) is the language in Bali, the exotic island in Indonesia. Jawa (Javanese language) and Sunda (Sundanese language) are languages in Java, the most-populous island in Indonesia. Acèh (Acehnese language) and Minangkabau (Minangkabau language) are languages in Sumatra, the second most-populous island in Indonesia. I view the arguments made in favor of previous moves have been consistent with policies and guidelines. In this move, I aim to provide assurances to the remaining holdouts, moving the page is at least as safe as retaining the status quo. If this succeeds the province can now be the primary topic for East Timor. Kenneth Kho (talk) 21:20, 16 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 22:38, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Flowers (Miley Cyrus song)Flowers (song) – The Miley Cyrus song has hit number one in over 40 countries and was the best-selling single of 2023 per the IFPI, in addition to topping the year-end Billboard Global 200 for 2023. In addition, it won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year as well as the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
As for the other exact matches with articles, the Billy Yates song did not chart outside of the US and only charted on Hot Country Songs. The Lauren Spencer-Smith song did not attain any top-10 positions, did not make any year-end charts, and did not attain certifications higher than Single Platinum. Finally, the Sweet Female Attitude song did not chart outside of Europe, and peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart with a 2x Platinum certification in the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, when comparing against the Sweet Female Attitude song (the most successful of the other songs), the Miley song peaked at number-one on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for 10 weeks. In addition, it is certified 3x Platinum in the United Kingdom and was the year-end number one of 2023 in that country.
Finally, with respect to ], the Miley song has 10x the page views of the Sweet Female Attitude song, 100x the page views of the Lauren Spencer-Smith song, and 1000x the page views of the Billy Yates song. However, the Miley song is newer than all the three other songs, as the Sweet Female Attitude song had its page created in 2013, the Lauren Spencer-Smith song was released in 2022, and the Billy Yates song had its page created in 2021. This means that the Miley song attained its views in the shortest timespan of all four pages.
For the above reasons, I believe that the Miley Cyrus song is the primary topic with respect to songs. N0nuun (talk) 20:21, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Kill Bill (SZA song)Kill Bill (song) – The SZA song has hit the top 5 in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland. In addition, it was nominated for the Grammy Award for Song of the Year and the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
There is only one other song with the same name with a Misplaced Pages article, and that is the Brown Eyed Girls song. The article in question is much shorter with much fewer references, and it has no charting information in the way that the SZA song does.
Finally, looking at ], the SZA song has over 100x the pageviews as the Brown Eyed Girls song, and with much less time to do so, as the Brown Eyed Girls song had its page created in 2014, and the SZA song was released in 2022.
For the above reasons, I believe that the SZA song is the primary topic with respect to songs. N0nuun (talk) 19:33, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Oleg of DreliniaOleg of Dereva – "drelinia" appears to be an WP:OR toponym, it is not widely attested in English-language WP:RS. Therefore, as pointed out in 2011 by User:Ghirlandajo, there is no such term as "drelinia". It was a good thing he decided rename the article to "Oleg of the Drevlyans", although that is still not quite what the text says. (Some English literature suggests "Oleg among the Derevlyans", but only for translating this specific sentence in PVL 69.8–9). Nevertheless, in 2018 this was reverted back to "Oleg of Drelinia" by User:Iryna Harpy with the comment revert: Undiscussed move. Drelinia is attested to in English language texts, whether correct or incorrect. Is WP:OR as WP:TITLE. Well, I could find only 1 hit on Google Books (Ase Berit, Rolf Strandskogen 2015, which may have been influenced by this enwiki article), and 0 hits on Google Scholar. So let's get back to the basics. The land in question is simply called Дерева Dereva, which in modern Ukrainian and Russian still simply means "the trees" or "the woods" (plural; in singular wikt:дерево), i.e. "the Woods". * Въ лѣто 6478. Святославъ посади Яропълка въ Кыевѣ, а Ольга въ Деревѣхъ. (PVL 69.8–9 Ostrowski et al. 2003 ** Vŭ lěto 6478. Svyatoslavŭ posadi Yaropolŭka vŭ Kyevŭ, a Olĭga vŭ Derevěkhŭ. *** 6478 (970). Svyatoslav set up Yaropolk in Kiev and Oleg in Dereva. Cross&SW 1953 p. 87 деревѣхъ (derevěkhŭ) is the plural locative of дерево in Old East Slavic. It literally means "in the woods". Sometimes it is nevertheless translated as Derevlyans or some spelling variation of that ethnonym (e.g. Thuis 2015 Derevljanen), but in this case, it is a toponym, referring to a land (Dereva "the Woods") and not to a people (Derevlyans "the Wood-Dwellers"). In 12 cases in total, Cross&SW rendered the toponym as Dereva, and never as "Drelinia". In the incident in which Oleg kills Lyut', Oleg's hunting grounds are similarly called "in the forest", but with a different word: въ лѣсѣ vŭ lěsě (PVL 74.12–14; Cross&SW p. 90). Compare with the next event (1): *В лѣто 6485. Поиде Яропълкъ на Ольга, брата своего, на Деревьску землю. PVL 74.22–23 ** Vŭ lěto 6485. Poide Yaropŭlkŭ na Olĭga, brata svoego, na Derevĭsku zemlyu. *** 6484-6485 (976-977). Yaropolk marched against his brother Oleg into the district of Dereva. p. 90 Compare with a previous event (2): *И послуша ихъ Игорь; иде въ Дерева въ дань. PVL 54.20 ** I poslusha ikhŭ Igorĭ; ide vŭ Dereva vŭ danĭ. *** Igor' heeded their words, and he attacked Dereva in search of tribute. p. 87 Some English-language literature suggests simply Oleg of Dereva, or Oleg Sviatoslavich of Dereva. Going by our own enwiki conventions, we could also go for Oleg, Prince of Dereva, but that has the problem of translating knyaz, which is a whole other discussion that we better avoid. interwikis suggest Oleg Sviatoslavich (Prince of Dereva or Oleg Sviatoslavich (Derevlyan prince) (but those would not conform to enwiki conventions), or simply Oleg Sviatoslavich (but that already redirects to Oleg I of Chernigov). All things considered, Oleg of Dereva is the most obvious title: it conforms to our conventions, it is WP:CONCISE, it is somewhat attested in literature, plus Dereva separately is overwhelmingly attested in English-language literature as the toponym's WP:COMMONNAME. The current title is WP:OR and cannot be maintained anymore, and the other options all have certain problems that Oleg of Dereva does not have. NLeeuw (talk) 15:32, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Bob Simpson (cricketer)Bobby Simpson (cricketer) – Bobby Simpson is one of the best-known cricketers ever and is not known as "Bob Simpson". There is a redirect from "Bobby Simpson" to "Bob Simpson" when it should be the other way round. Then "Bob Simpson (cricketer)" should be deleted. The 2005 changes are not quite the solution. If this proposal is acceptable, I hope someone technically minded would make the change Billsmith60 (talk) 14:52, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Mufti Abdul RazzaqAbdul Razzaq (scholar) – Previous attempts to rename this article were reverted on the grounds that it complies with Misplaced Pages's CommonName policy. However, based on my understanding, the title does not align with the policy's requirements. "Mufti" is an honorific title, and its inclusion in a CommonName is justified only when it is widely recognized and has become a fundamental part of the subject's identity, as in the cases of Mufti Mehmood or Maulana Azad. A comprehensive review indicates that the subject is not widely discussed in reliable sources, either in English or their native language, and lacks sufficient secondary sources. How, then, was the determination made that this is a CommonName? Coverage is limited, primarily consisting of breaking news after the subject’s death, with the majority of sources being relatively non-mainstream. While it is common for media to use titles in describing individuals, such usage does not necessarily equate to a CommonName under Misplaced Pages's criteria. –𝐎𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐥 𝐐𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢 ʕʘ̅͜ʘ̅ʔ 14:29, 25 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 07:35, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Sundar CSundar C. – He is credited as Sundar.C in all of his films . Don't feel the need to include all of his films, though most are on YouTube. The English standard equivalent of putting a dot before the C is putting one afterwards. For, some reason Tamil names put the dot before although this is unconventional to American/Britsh English grammar rules. Indian media tends to avoid putting the dot even for names with dots. See: and . At the very least, credited as Sundar C. should be mentioned in the lead. DareshMohan (talk) 00:18, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

  • (Discuss)Damdi MasjidDamri Masjid – Damri Masjid is currently redirected to Toli Masjid, which is not referred to as the Damri Masjid in any scholarly sources. It was historically also known as the Damri Masjid (as noted by this), but in every piece of literature (academic sources, listing of monuments, newspapers, etc.) it is referred to as the Toli Masjid, and so is the case with all the sources in the article. The only source mentioning the name "Damri Masjid" also calls it Toli Masjid primarily, noting that Damri Masjid is a historical name for the mosque. On the other hand, Damdi Masjid is spelt Damri in all scholarly sources (2 of them in the refs on the article; many more passing mentions) and listings of historical monuments (ASI's list of monuments of national importance). Any confusion can easily be solved with distinguishing templates AmateurHi$torian (talk) 17:25, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Cabinet of GermanyFederal Government of Germany – "Federal Government of Germany" is the natural, precise, concise and above all consistent title. On the other hand, "Cabinet of Germany" is not commonly recognizable and not a title that readers are likely to look or search for if they wanted to find the German government. Furthermore, the current title is colloquial and legally (see Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany, sixth section, "VI. The Federal Government") and technically incorrect. The title also differs from all other search engine results on this topic and the official website itself.

  • (Discuss)Saskatchewan Progress PartySaskatchewan Liberal Party – While the current name of the party is the Progress Party, it is not the most notable name this party had. Under its current name, the party has never had a single MLA and finished last in only election (2024) it ever ran in under its current name. A good precedent would be the Alberta Social Credit Party, its current name is the Pro-Life Alberta Political Association, but it is still known by its older, historic, more relevant name. Like the Alberta Socreds, the Saskatchewan Liberals were a prominent party under its historic name. They elected premiers and either led the government or led the opposition. An alternative proposal would be to WP:SPLIT the article into two articles: one for the Saskatchewan Liberal Party and one for the Saskatchewan Progress Party. This would be similar to how there are separate articles for the Yukon Progressive Conservative Party and the Yukon Party. ⁂CountHacker (talk) 21:36, 12 December 2024 (UTC)— Relisting. Me-123567-Me (talk) 17:40, 24 December 2024 (UTC)— Relisting. —usernamekiran (talk) 04:40, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

  • (Discuss)Andrew CoffeyAndrew Coffey (football) – In addition to the move proposed here, I believe that a disambiguation page should be created out of the current primary title. There does not appear to be a primary topic in this situation -- the two articles for people with this name are stubs that fail to prove that one is more significant than the other, while the other Andrew Coffey noted in the hatnote, the hazing victim, only has an article about his death since that's the only significant coverage of him. The Coffey hazing case has the most information available I can find in a search, but given that he is not notable enough for a standalone biographical article per WP:BIO1E, combined with the fact that there is no evidence that one of the other two Andrew Coffeys is more likely as a primary search term than the other, I believe this page should be moved to the proposed title, with the main Andrew Coffey article being a disambiguation page between the three articles. • (Discuss)Yotta SavingsYotta – The company, and recent articles about it, uses the name "Yotta" and not "Yotta Savings". The term "savings" does not appear on the company's terms and conditions page, although its legal name "Yotta Technologies" does. The article "Yotta" on Misplaced Pages is a redirect to Metric prefix#List of SI prefixes, and while yotta is an SI prefix, it is a rarely used one for a very large number; we can refer to it in a hatnote from a retitled Yotta page about the fintech company. Two US-based search engines, when queried for yotta, return primarily pages about the fintech company, not the metric prefix. White 720 (talk) 18:36, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)AphilodontidaeAphilodontinae – I request this move to reflect the renaming of this group of centipedes, which has been demoted from the family Aphilodontidae to the subfamily Aphilodontinae, as I explain in this Misplaced Pages article. Authorities have regarded Aphilodontidae as an invalid name for more than a decade now (since 2014). The subfamily name Aphilodontinae has been used instead by the three leading scholarly articles on the subject (published in 2019 and 2022 and cited in the Misplaced Pages article). See WP:NAMECHANGES on "Article titles." I think there might be some controversy only because I see an editor created a Redirect page for "Aphilodontinae" in 2021 redirecting users to "Aphilodontidae" instead. It would make more sense to redirect users in the opposite direction, from the invalid name to the one now in active use. HCUPa (talk) 16:13, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Use of SarumSarum Missal – Or Sarum Rite – While the current title has considerable prevalence, it is no common name and its prevalence is no greater than the alternatives – both of which provide considerablly greater descriptive utility, outlining the subject as a missal or rite (and a more easily recognisable ecclesiastical category of subject), rather than merely a "use of", which is a descriptively unhelpful phrase. A-Z encyclopedias would opt to format a title such as this as "Sarum, Use of" to ensure the page listing in the "S"s rather than the "U"s. While this doesn't apply here, the same principle of having the more important key word up front does still benefit drop down menu searches and the like, which, combined with the historically greater prevalence of "Sarum Missal" name format simply reinforces the merit of the move. • (Discuss)Paris Saint-Germain AcademyParis Saint-Germain Youth Academy – A November 2024 RM failed, but it's unclear on what grounds. The current title, "Paris Saint-Germain Academy", refers to a program run by PSG for children across the world, giving them an opportunity to do training sessions under the PSG name and to improve on their game. It refers to this, with an example being the "France" academy here. These "schools" run by this "PSG Academy" program are NOT the actual youth academy this article is referring to. This article refers to the players that are in what is called in French the centre de formation, and by extension, those in the préformation. The article is referring to the players actually in PSG's youth system that ultimately goes up to the club's first team. And this youth system is NOT known by the name "Paris Saint-Germain Academy", both in sourcing and especially not by the club itself. The club calls its youth academy the centre de formation here, which it itself translates to "Paris Saint-Germain Youth Academy" on the same page in English. • (Discuss)History of the Jews in the United StatesJewish history in the United States – I would like to request this move as I believe the target article title is more natural and succinct. In being titled “Jewish history in the United States”, my proposed title also avoids simply referring to “the Jews”, which is not inaccurate but doesn’t reflect the history of American Jews rather than Jews in general being the primary focus of this article (although see the paragraph below). I did think about American Jewish history (currently a redirect) as an article title, but I prefer “Jewish history in the United States” as it seems to have a wider scope, for example including within scope the history of Jews in the territory of the US before American independence. That said, as I have written above, the main focus of this article is on American Jews. I’m conscious there are many other articles on Misplaced Pages titled “History of the Jews in X”. I similarly think these would generally be better titled as “Jewish history in X” for the same reasons of naturalness, succinctness and precision. Although I haven’t made this a multi-page move due to the scale of making such a wide-ranging change. I’d welcome more experienced editors’ views about this. I’d suggest, if this move request is not successful, that Jewish history in the United States be created as a redirect to this page. As it’s quite a natural search term. Finally, I would note my proposed title aligns with the main article on Jewish history. Rafts of Calm (talk) 19:28, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Tel al-Sultan attackKuwait Peace Camp airstrike – The current title is not great: it's not particularly natural, precise or descriptive, but is merely a vague and fairly non-descript geographical handwave. The more natural titling surrounding the event in question has tended to revolve around the nomenclature of "Rafah tent ..." or "Rafah tent camp ..." (with attack/massacre as the operative descriptor) but these options equally lack precision (given there have been numerous tent camp attacks/massacres in Rafah). And yet "Tel al-Sultan" ironically isn't that much of an improvement, since Tel al-Sultan is equally not a specific city block or even neighborhood, but a substantial urban area within Rafah, and the attack also did not even really take place in Tel al-Sultan, but at a temporary tent camp on a previously deserted patch of land to the northeast of some UN warehouses that were themselves located to the northeast of Tel al-Sultan, on the other side of a peripheral ring road. The current title also does not mention either the key words "tent" or "camp" and is entirely obscure, non-descript and wholly unnatural as a search term. By contrast, the "Kuwait Peace Camp" is the precise location of the attack, as first attested by the BBC on 27 May based on the video footage, and confirmed by the Guardian and CNN on 29 May, and used as the principle identifier by Amnesty by 27 August. So this name represents the precise location of the attack and as a bonus contains the keyword "camp", so further specifies the nature of the event. And then "airstrike", because it was an airstrike, so that's precise, and the news coverage largely uses the term "strike". Meanwhile, the use of "attack" in the context is somewhat vague and could be confused with a ground assault, of which there have since been many in the area. • (Discuss)Use of child suicide bombers by Palestinian militant groupsSuicide bombing by minors in the Second Intifada – This page can readily be moved to a much more precise and specific title. The current title is somewhat vague and broad in scope when the topic itself is quite narrow and discrete. The topic in question is suicide bombing by minors in the Second Intifada. "Minors" is more useful here than "child", as it pertains to the internationally defined (and most common) age of legal adulthood as being at 18, and the topic here is bombings by 16 and 17 year olds, so shortly below this legal threshold. The qualitative terminology of "children" or "childhood" is vaguer and conjures up the sense of individuals in their early teens or younger just as readily as it does the sense of those in their late teens but prior to legal maturity. The "Second Intifada" is the very precise and discrete time period in question, the when of the topic and a delineation that should obviously be mentioned in the lead (as part of the WP:NCWWW of the topic). This is very explicitly not a general topic page or broad concept article, but one very specifically linked to said time period. The mention that the subject involves "Palestinian militant groups" is lengthy and unnecessary. This element is naturally outlined as part of the WP:SCOPE in the first sentence of the page, but is in any case implied by the context of the "Second Intifada", which makes it clear that the broader topic is the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, where such tactics in the relevant period were the preserve of only side. This makes the specific mention of this element of the subject fairly redundant and unnecessary in the title. Iskandar323 (talk) 07:57, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

There may be a few other stragglers, but they should move to the same consistent naming pattern as well. PS: This isn't even an appropriate use of standard, since this page and what it outlines don't qualify under any definition applicable here. At most, this is page reflects the collective (and generally pretty sound but not authoritative) opinions of a small number of topic-devoted editors, and it needs careful review to make sure it actually complies with our WP:P&G that cover style and page-title matters (which most style PROJPAGEs do not until subjected to considerable revision).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  02:20, 23 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:17, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

  • (Discuss)Moldova and the Russo-Ukrainian WarRussian hybrid warfare against Moldova – This article is a compilation of actions that Russia has done to undermine and destabilize Moldova in the last years. They have happened during the Russo-Ukrainian War, but are part of a single coordinated effort and plan. We can rename the article so it covers this more precise and encyclopedic topic. We have a lot of sources describing this hybrid warfare that Russia is doing against Moldova. Here are some big names: the Institute for the Study of War ("The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine is, in fact, supporting Russian hybrid warfare efforts in former Soviet states, particularly Moldova and Georgia"), the European Parliament ("vehemently condemns Russia's escalating malicious activities, interference and hybrid operations ahead of Moldovans going to the polls"), Politico citing Moldova's chief of police ("Moldova is facing a phenomenon of voter bribery, combined with hybrid warfare and disinformation, the likes of which our country has never seen before,"), Euronews ("the Kremlin has enacted elements of its hybrid war playbook in both states "), NATO itself ("In Moldova, Russia’s hybrid warfare has been aimed at toppling the country’s pro-EU government"). This hybrid warfare scheme would have involved many actions and events that are either already in the article or would have been had the article been written later. This article, currently with a vague and open scope, is the best recipient for this topic. Here are sources mentioning these actions as hybrid warfare: Russian-paid protests in Moldova (: "Russia has dedicated considerable resources to its hybrid war. For instance, protestors are routinely paid to participate in anti-government protests.", page 6; : "It later emerged that protesters had been paid by Kremlin proxies to attend." in an article about Russian hybrid warfare in Moldova), continuous airspace violations and falling of drones and missiles (: "The overall internal security situation remains stable, but fragile due to regular incidents such as bomb hoaxes and missiles or missile debris falling on Moldovan territory. in a section regarding hybrid warfare, page 258), Transnistria's role in this effort (: "Chisinau has been the victim of a complex hybrid action carried out by the Kremlin on multiple levels. In this respect, the Transnistria region has long been used by Russia as a bargaining chip in its efforts to influence Republic of Moldova."), rigging of elections and vote-buying (: "Indeed, Moldova's election season was marred by massive Russian interference in both campaigns. This meddling included cyberattacks, planned espionage at diaspora polling stations, and the outright buying of votes."; : "Recent votes in the former Soviet states of Georgia and Moldova have been dogged by interference from Russian-backed elements.", "There is a suggestion that these efforts are part of Russia’s multifaceted hybrid warfare."), an alleged coup in February 2023 (: "The timely leak of classified information about Russia's attempts to organize a coup in Chisinau allowed the government to react quickly", page 49, see source's title) and energy blackmail and the energy crisis of 2022 and 2023 (same source and page as before: "Thanks to substantial financial aid from the EU, Moldova was able to survive Russia’s energy blackmail in 2022 and even break Gazprom's monopoly."). This source summarizes everything nicely: Moldova's Response to Hybrid Attacks: A Learning-by-doing Strategy, page 2, "In addition to the potential risks coming from Transnistria, Moldova has witnessed a series of new challenges over the past year and a half, ranging from false bomb alerts, cyber-attacks, and explosions in Transnistria to energy blackmail, paid protests, and Kremlin proxies operating in the autonomous region of Gagauzia. This is all alongside continuous disinformation campaigns.". Note that I've only looked at English-language sources, and several of these sources are written by Moldovans themselves. Here are some random academic sources that I didn't use above . I think no doubt remains that sources verify that Russia is waging hybrid warfare against Moldova. Do you agree that this article should cover this topic? Super Ψ Dro 12:47, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

  • (Discuss)Archie (TV serial)Archie (miniseries) – This is a miniseries and is classified as such on IMDb. Another editor recently changed the parenthetical content of the page's title to "TV serial". This is not a serial. It's 4 episodes. Cannon, executive producer, refers to it as a miniseries in promo interviews, as do critics for the Boston Herald and Screen Rant for example. Yours6700 (talk) 00:56, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Gascon dialectGascon (language variety) – The precise classifcation of Gascon is controversial. While most scholars consider it to be a dialect of Occitan, Posner and Sala note that it is less comprehensible than Catalan (which is typically classified separately from Occitan) to other southern Occitan speakers. Moreover, Gascon has a standardized variety, Aranese, with official status in the Val d'Aran region of Catalonia, which differs from the literary standard of Occitan. Kristol 2023 asserts that Gascon was "already considered a specific language in the Middle Ages," and Carles and Glessgen 2024 refer to Occitan and Gascon as "two languages." As the terms "language" and "dialect" are ambiguous and somewhat subjective, linguists tend to circumvent extralinguistic polemics by using the term "language variety" to refer to a linguistic system. By characterizing Gascon as a "dialect," the current title appears to clash with Misplaced Pages's policy of neutrality by favouring a traditional but contested view. The term "language variety" would be a more useful characterization, as it would avoid the use of the ambiguous term "dialect," which tends to evoke social, historical, and political considerations rather than strictly linguistic ones. • (Discuss)FC Cetatea SuceavaCSM Cetatea Suceava – – After the dissolution of ACS Foresta Suceava in the summer of 2024, the Municipality of Suceava and the most important businessmen from Suceava County re-founded the local club as CSM Cetatea 1932 Suceava (full name). The new entity is considered now as the team of the city and the successor of the local football history.frf-ajf profile, facebook profile, radiotio.ro/foundation, history, local businessman, staff, municipality involvment, continuity. Suceava had only one important football team at one time, during the years, and at this moment the history of local football is very divided on wikipedia. Th football history of Suceava started with Cetatea Suceava in 1932, then in the 1950s and 1960s the team changed its name several times, then was re-founded as a football section of CSM Suceava, multi-sport club, where it was active until 1997, when Foresta Fălticeni, club owned by Eugen Huțu moved to Suceava and was renamed as Foresta Suceava. After 2004, the local club was re-founded as FC Cetatea Suceava (this page) and worked until 2010 when whitdrew from the league. In 2010, Rapid CFR (which was a team from the suburbs) was taking over by the Municipality of Suceava and renamed as ACS Foresta Suceava, the team was dissolved in 2024. Due to this history, I proposed only 3 main pages: 1. CSM Cetatea Suceava (CSM Suceava + FC Cetatea Suceava + Cetatea 1932, one article, keeping the foundation years and the corresponding denomination(s) 2. Foresta Fălticeni remain the same, team originally based in Fălticeni 3. ACS Foresta Suceava, remain the same, team that was known for almost its entire history as Rapid CFR Suceava, another team moved and renamed. The second step will be a merge between Cetatea Suceava (reunited page) and CSM Suceava, but I'll keep the entire history on this page, because Cetatea was the original team of Suceava, CSM was born by the took over of Cetatea (named Chimia at that time), by CSM Suceava multi-sport club. In major news outlets, professional profiles, and official documents, the full name 'Akinola Alabi' is predominantly used. For example, in various media reports and his official biography, his full name is consistently referred to, and it is the name most widely recognized in connection with his career and public service. He became famous because he died and before that he was a complete unknown. People might say he has been notable in other things but that is only a consequence of being murdered. People should leave their emotional bias behind and look at the facts. • (Discuss)Bærum mosque shooting2019 Bærum murder and mosque shooting – Pursuant to the discussion above, which no one responded to: I have been wanting to improve this article for two years, since it is entirely stuck in the breaking news aftermath of when it happened instead of the later coverage, but I am frustrated by its scope, which makes it difficult to reflect what non-breaking news sources cover about this case. While all of the breaking coverage focuses on the mosque shooting, later coverage tends to focus both on Ihle-Hansen's murder (see the books, the docuseries, later news coverage) with about equal weight to the mosque attack. This is a problem because there was a separate motive for the killing of his sister, the background for what lead up to this event heavily involves her, and the more severe sentence Manshaus received was for murdering Ihle-Hansen, not for the failed mosque shooting. This is very close to what the Norwegian wikipedia titles its article on this case. I would title it closer to what the books and documentaries do, but they are usually titled after Manshaus's name. I am open to other suggestions as I know this isn't perfect but I do feel that any title for this article needs to not strictly focus it on the mosque event. The year is optional, but according to WP:NCE if an event is not broadly known it should include the year. This event is not widely known outside of Norway, but if people feel otherwise it could be titled Bærum murder and mosque shooting (edit: a better target would be 2019 Bærum murder and mosque attack, as Cameron suggests) PARAKANYAA (talk) 09:57, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)2024 Al-Mustariha massacre2024 Turkish airstrikes in Syria – Consistency. This article should be named like 2024 Homs airstrikes or April 2017 Turkish airstrikes in Syria and Iraq. Because these air strikes are organised for enemy sides of the perpetrator's and some civillians killed in those air strikes. This title means that Turkey only carries out air strike to massacre innocent civilians. However, this airstrike is only one of 191 airstrikes against the SDF-YPG, therefore we cannot seperate this air strike from other 190 air strikes. All of them are carried out within 2024. The content also mentions the death toll from other airstrikes. Also these airstrikes belongs to Hasakah province, Raqqa province and rural Aleppo. This title mentions 11 civilians in Raqqa province but how about other 6 civillian deaths in Hasakah province? If you look at death toll, military personnels also killed besides civillians and this means that Turkish Air Force didn't target civillians especially. Also it's ridiculous to target little amount of civillians in a village. If Turkish Air Force want to kill civillians, bombing big city centers is more efficient way like Israel did in Gaza Strip. Therefore that title is biased and we cannot named this event as a massacre just for killed civillians because more military personnels killed in these air strikes. Seondly, wikipedia there's a village named Mustariha and it's located at Idlib. However news says it's a village in the suburbs of Ain Issa. I cannot find location of the village. It's very interesting. All in all, this article should be moved to "2024 Turkish airstrikes in Syria" However we can use northern Syria but I'm not sure about geographic naming. Note: If the title I propose is appropriate, the content should be revised accordingly, because it gives the impression that the attack was made specifically for this village and targeted especially civillians in this village.--Sabri76' 17:46, 10 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:10, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Template:NFTemplate:NFLD – Most Canadian provinces have just one flag template named with the province's two-letter postal abbreviation as the template name; this one is a special case because the province's name was changed from just "Newfoundland" to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2001, necessitating separate "NF" and "NL" templates because the province name next to the (same) flag needs to be two different things based on whether it's a pre-2001 or post-2001 context.
However, because the Spanish Misplaced Pages uses the template name "NF" as its basic "formatting the vital statistics of people on biographical articles" (birth year, death year, defaultsort name, etc.) template, there ends up being a constant need to monitor this template for incorrect "vital stats" uses on articles, drafts and user sandbox pages that have been translated or just copy-pasted over from Spanish.
So because of that extenuating circumstance, I believe that there's a substantive case for treating this template as a special case that varies from the titles of its other provincial siblings to avoid that problem — and since "NF" is an old, no longer used postal abbreviation rather than the current one, the variant won't be nearly as difficult to justify as it would have been if the conflict were affecting "NL".
Accordingly, I propose that this template use the province's original postal abbreviation "NFLD" instead of the two-letter transitional form "NF", with all of its (thankfully not that many) uses updated to the new name, and "NF" not retained as a redirect so that we stop having to deal with the flag of Newfoundland being wrongly placed at the bottom of Spanish and Mexican and Latin American biographies.
Alternatively, if there's a way that "NL" could be coded to enable a "Newfoundland and Labrador" vs. "Newfoundland" switch, we could just add that and move all the NF uses to NL-with-switch, but I wouldn't know how to do that (or even if it's possible), although it might even be a better solution than moving this if it is possible. • (Discuss)Gwon YulGwon Yul (general) – Seems to be a conflict between the two WP:PRIMARYTOPIC criteria. Gwon Yul currently does not meet the criteria for primary topic by usage WP:PT1: of the three ambiguous "Kwon Yul" articles, the army general is last in pageviews. Over the last year, the other two Kwon Yul articles have received an average monthly pageviews of around 15,000, while the army general has received only 1400. However, by WP:PT2 (long term significance), the army general is obviously the primary topic. Given the conflicting criteria, and what seems to be a very large pageview disparity between the army general and the other Kwon Yul articles (army general receiving 10x less traffic), I thought it'd be appropriate to open a discussion to see if the army general is indeed the primary topic or if there is WP:NOPRIMARY here. A move here would also involve retargeting the redirect left at Gwon Yul to Kwon Yul (which is the same name, 권율, just romanized slightly differently) RachelTensions (talk) 13:05, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
  • (Discuss)Unknown Archon → ? – This "Unknown Archon" sounds like this is a proper name, but it's apparently not, this is just uppercase added to a translation of one of the general descriptions used in historiography about this story. The article is a bit of a mess - most of it is the lead section that doesn't actually summarize the body; half the body is a verbatim copy from a 20th-century translation of a 10th-century primary source, and then there's a few paragraphs which kind of say yeah none of this stuff in the lead is necessarily true true. So I don't really know if there's a good name for this topic, or if this small amount of context has potential - should it just be merged into a more general article?
