Roman was born the son of Andalusian parents and educated at the ], where he was nicknamed "Shushard" often abbreviated to "'shard", but often also "shishi" which are what his mother exclaimed at a school concert in which he was singing aa a choir member, when the stage caught fire. His talent and passion and competence was already manifest in school, as well as his near obsession for mystical subjects sucha as Qabalah, numerology and the Book of Revelations, the Apocalypse of St. John, bunking off sports to be able to dedicate himself to higher goals. Much undersetimated by his peers he has proven to be exceptionally determined to make a name for himself and reach his childhood goal to be a significant part of the music industry and to manifest his other artistic and multifaceted talents which were nurtured in part by his music teacher Mr. Claude May, who used to cover his bald patch with a thick eyeliner pencil drawn in the shape if an upturned filled triangle, and notwithstanding the the "Snappies" episode and the "Claude" taunts and the occasion he wore an ice-cream cone on his head. Indeed all events that made the man and talent he is today! In the early 1980s he began to learn his craft at London's Cockpit Theatre Arts and Music Workshop alongside other fledgling songwriter/producers such as ]. Roman worked with Spanish dance pop singer Rebeca, whose American debut album, Rebelde, was described by Allmusic's journalist, Stephen Thomas Erlewine, as a "terrific showcase for her infectious energy and rich voice", Mexican pop singer Paulina Rubio, for whom he wrote the song "Vive El Verano", which was included on her Billboard award winning and Grammy nominated album Paulina, Brazilian TV icon Xuxa, Mexican telenovela star Lorena Rojas, Code Records, Adrian Posse, Luis Gomez Escolar, Ignacio Ballesteros and others.
