Prometheus is a forthcoming film by Ridley Scott. The project began as a prequel to Alien, written by Jon Spaihts, but after discussions with screenwriter Damon Lindelof, the project became an original film, not canon to the Alien franchise. Swedish actress Noomi Rapace will star as a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw , who is one of the film's five main characters along with Charlize Theron as a character named Vickers. Prometheus is set to be released on March 9, 2012.
