3RR warnings

It's best to give fsir warning of 3RR. Then we can block the next time. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 04:56, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind if I see it again, thanks. -Colin Kimbrell 04:57, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

I like your common sense thinking on deletion!

Blocking

Thanks for your message regarding my block. Actually, the IP underneath the account cannot be directly blocked; it's hidden from the admins. --HappyCamper 02:56, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

True enough, but he doesn't necessarily know that. I figured a bluff had a chance of scaring him off/straight, and was unlikely to make things worse. -Colin Kimbrell 02:58, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Heh :-) I don't think we've met on Misplaced Pages before, it was really nice to see someone follow up with my note. --HappyCamper 02:59, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
It was my pleasure; vandalism is a problem for everybody, even hermits like me, and I appreciate you taking the time to address it. -Colin Kimbrell 03:04, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your assistance and patience with my first entry on Misplaced Pages (Not Breathing). I appreciate being able to learn the functions of Misplaced Pages without having the entry deleted.

Good job. 000023 19:09, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

Colin Ng

I have rewritten the article so that it is about a yachtsman who according to our Sports in Singapore article won a gold medal in sailing in the 1998 Asian Games. He is also a member of the Singapore Sports Hall of Fame see . I would be grateful if you could have a look at the rewritten stub. Capitalistroadster 06:50, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Looks like a nice little stub now. Nice catch; withdrawing nom. -Colin Kimbrell 15:50, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm an admin now!!

Thanks a ton for your support on my rfa, the final tally was 50-0-0; I'll try and live up to the expectations of others and do my best in maintaining the integrity of Misplaced Pages. I hope to become a better vandal fighter with the tools. btw, your userpage is the coolest I've seen.--Gurubrahma 14:42, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

NSLE's RFA

Hi Colin,

Thanks for your support vote on my RfA. I don't think I expected 70 supports, nor get just a single oppose. Thank you for your trust in me, and I hope to live up to it (I can't help but wonder how many votes the Eddie situation actually contributed). If I can ever help with anything or if you have any comments about my actions as an admin, please let me know! Thank you once again! – NSLE (T+C+CVU) 09:58, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Yet Another RFA Thank You Note to clutter up your talk page...

Colin:

Just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for supporting me in my recent RFA. I shall endeavor to be worthy of such support now that my RFA has succeeded and I have been promoted to admin.

All the best.

User talk:169.204.230.166

What personal attack was ESkog making? I see none. User:Zoe| 22:09, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

He wasn't; 169.204.230.166 vandalized ESkog's talk page with a personal attack . As such, I thought he should be warned. -Colin Kimbrell 22:23, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Your warning sounds like you're warning ESkog. User:Zoe| 22:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't really understand how you'd get that impression. I left the warning on the 169...'s page, and I captioned it at the start with a rider that it was RE: his comment to ESkog. -Colin Kimbrell 22:29, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

I would like to express my thanks to all the good people who spent their valuable time time and effort working on my (failed) RfA voting. Especially for those who actually voted to support me :). Warnings for vandalism

With the system of tracing contributors by their IP, there is always a danger that a previous vandal IP may be assigned to someone else who is just a 'clueless newbie'. It's therefore always best to leave a warning, even on a returning blocked-many-times vandal, at least once (although there can be times the vandalism is so blatant that they can be blocked on site). It is part of WP:BITE. There is a template which is added on some of the notorious vandal IPs that warns them they may be blocked without warning, but the one you found vandalising didn't have one. David | Talk 15:40, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

You are not an idiot

{{vandal2}} is designed poorly. I've added a note on Template talk:vandal2 asking for someone to fix it, because I don't know how to. --Nlu (talk) 17:07, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Re "Vandalism?"

Thanks for the comments. No, it seems I was not right to revert Luther Burbank, and that it was not vandalism, as I discovered soon and re-reverted after five minutes. I know I can be a little fast-triggered, and I should not assume bad faith, so I will try to keep this in mind. Haakon 22:52, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Daniel Dorim Kim

To me, an award from the prime minister of a country (in this case, Korea. North or South, I do not know, but it doesn't make it any more or less important in my eyes) is an indication that this person has made a great contribution to that country. The other awards (from Seoul's mayor and the country's commericial minister) sound notable and further add to his notability. It would be illogical if someone gained an award from his country for doing nothing significant. It may not be a country we are familiar with but we must try and empathise with a recipient of such awards. To them, it's probably the equivalent of an OBE or an American award of similar value. I hope this has answered your question adequately. - 16:38, 20 January 2006 (UTC) The Great Gavini

I have replied to your talk page with further concerns. -Colin Kimbrell 16:54, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
His official site lists them, but I myself am confident that these awards are genuine. To me, it seems that if he had made up the awards, he would have been already found out to be doing this. Pictures of these awards are on his website, and there are photographs of him actually receiving the awards. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here: if it's all a hoax, it would be a very elaborate one at that. It sounds extremely believable. - 17:05, 20 January 2006 (UTC) The Great Gavini

Storm clouds ... and silver linings Thank you for your support on my RfA.
Unfortunately, it failed to reach consensus. Nonetheless, it proved an opportunity to establish contacts and cooperation with many supportive editors, which will be beneficial to editing Misplaced Pages in the future. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters (t @)

Succesful RfA!

Thank you for your support during my RfA! The community has decided to make me an administrator, and there's work to be done. I look forward to seeing you around the project in the future, and if you see me do anything dumb, let me know right away! Regards, CHAIRBOY () 23:33, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

XXXChurch

I looked at some of the links, and I'm not completely won over. A few brief mentions in some newspapers is newsworthy, but not necessarily encyclopedic. That CNN story, for instance, talked about porn and Christianity, but I didn't even notice mention of this site. A few others just gave it passing mention. I think what we have here is possibly a noteworthy movement that this is part of, but this, in itself, isn't. Though I am closer to the fence than I was. -R. fiend 20:39, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

My RFA

Hi Colin Kimbrell, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Misplaced Pages may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 10:27, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

RfA Thanks!

Okay, this is perhaps a bit overdue, but thank-you for your support in my recent RfA! I passed with a final vote count consensus of (82/1/0), which was a lot of support that I really appreciate. I'll try to live up to the expectations; and on that note, if there's ever something I do wrong (or don't do right), please spit in my general direction. Cheers! --PeruvianLlama 05:31, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Babe Ruth

I'm posting this message on you Talk Page either because you've contributed to the article Babe Ruth, or because you've edited other baseball or sports related articles. I've recently completed a revision of this article at Babe Ruth/rewrite. If you have the time, I'd appreciated it if you'd compare the articles and leave any feedback you might have on the rewrite discussion page. I'd like to reach a consensus before makeing major changes to the main article. Thanks for your help. --djrobgordon 20:46, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

With apologies for the impersonal AWB-ness of the message... Thanks for your support on my recent request for adminship. It passed at 91/1/0, and I hope I can continue to deserve the community's trust. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you, and if I make a mistake be sure to tell me. My talk page is always open. (ESkog) 02:29, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Misplaced Pages and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.

If you feel I can help you or Misplaced Pages as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very mach, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Sending template messages to other users

Hi, Colin. When sending npa or welcome template messages to other users, could you consider subst'ing them by using {{subst:npa}} and {{subst:welcome}} instead of {{npa}} and {{welcome}}? That reduces the load on the server. It also ensures that if the actual template is vandalized, the message on the user's talk page won't be affected. The same goes for many of the template messages, for example, {{subst:test1}} etc. If in doubt as to whether a particular template is suitable for subst'ing, you could try viewing it in "preview" before pressing "save". Thanks. AnnH 14:01, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

Today you blocked an IP address for vandalism. It's the Polk County Schools one. I go there, but have an account. Are you guys really going to contact the school if they keep messing with Misplaced Pages? Please reply on my talk page. Karatloz 20:22, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Survivor Bios

I had a look at the ones listed in Joel Klug and had amended votes for the ones mentioned after googling the mentioned contestants in the AfD discussion. The rest on the list don't meet WP:BIO and of course therefore as Barno mentioned in the discussion, have no hope of encyclopedic expansion. -- Arnzy | Talk 01:32, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
