Hey there. I noticed you recently posted a lot of questions on the Reference Desk. I think it's cool, too, and a lot more fun to read then some of the other discussion boards on Misplaced Pages. But, I'd caution against going overboard w/the question, as well as asking for people's opinions. I once asked what people thought about the recent Ayn Rand based movie, ''Atlas Shrugged'', and got a stern reply that the reference desk was NOT the place to share opinions. Though, if you look at one of the more recent and very long postings, its all about different people's opinions about cultural differences in the U.S. versus the rest of the world. Nobody is complaining about that. So, what I'm saying is that the line between an OK question and an inappropriate questions is a bit fuzzy. I think most of your questions are OK. For example, your question about whether there have been any recent mermaid sighting is probably cool, because there are ways for people to look up the info on the Internet, and answer the question based on what they've read. But asking whether or not they believe in the Lochness Monster...well, that can only be someone's opinion, and you might find that people don't like that kind of question on the Reference Desk. Anyway, I think the big thing is that you're posting a lot of stuff all at about the same time. I'd suggest keeping a list, and just ask two or three questions a week...and try to avoid asking for people's opinion. Anyway, that's what I do. PS- I don't believe in the Lochness Monster, but I do believe in Bigfoot. * making multiple requests for the same information is beginning to really tick people off, and
* the categories you create are getting nominated for deletion
* its starting to annoy people that you delete messages from your talkpage without responding to them, and don't change what you are doing either

Can I make a friendly request that you do the following four things from now on. You're not obliged to do them, but I hope that if you take this advice, it will stop you causing problems for other people, and them then complaining about you.

If you get no answer after a couple of days you can ask somewhere else. If you do that, go back to the first place you posted and make a note that you've moved your question to the new place. # '''Read the articles. ''' If you're able to put in a link to an article on the subject, read the article before you ask questions. For example, you asked 'Why do ] smoke marijuana?' It explains that in the article ]. If the problem is that you can't understand the explanation, then tell people that you need it in shorter sentences/simpler english. The reference desks often get this kind of query from people whose first language isn't English, but editors there would generally assume that a Canadian could read it for themselves.

If someone sends you a notice, respond to it. Or at least leave it there for a bit, to remind you that you've had a problem here.

Do you think this might help. You do come up with some useful things - finding ] was a great move. I'd never have heard of him if you hadn't asked at reference desk whether there was anyone famous from ], but because you created that one line article (with a reference), it meant someone else was inspired to add more stuff, and this is how the project grows.] (]) 12:21, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
