An anon user has created an article on Michael Irvin. I've wikified it, but it needs attention from someone who knows the team/player. Elde 02:34, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Choice of jerseys
I deleted the following phrase from a previous version of this article: "Opposing teams sometimes intentionally wear their white jerseys when playing the Cowboys at home (when they do not do so normally) in order to force the Cowboys to utilize this latter jersey."
As far as I know, according to NFL rules, the home team always chooses which jersey they will wear, and the visiting team has to put on the opposite. (Zzyzx11 02:31, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC))
- In reference to this, I believe the passage merely needs to be cleaned. Most teams wear a colored jersey at home and a white jersey on the road. When playing the Cowboys, many teams will wear white at home to force the Cowboys to wear their "road blues". In most instances, the Cowboys will wear white (when able).--129.118.249.239 12:38, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
The reason the Cowboys don't often wear their "road blues" is those jerseys (at least during the 60's & 70's) are/were considered to be "bad luck."
Here's the story of the jerseys: Prior to the beginning of the NFL season, each home team must choose the uniform they will wear for each home game, so the visiting team can plan accordingly, and this selection takes place soon after the schedules are announced in the spring. Cowboys management in the 1960s thought it would be a novel idea if they wore their white jerseys at home, so Dallas fans could see visiting teams wear their home (usually dark) uniforms in Dallas. Because most NFL teams wear dark jerseys at home, this meant that Dallas wore white most, if not all, of the season and players were comfortable wearing white when they were the visiting team. Since part of the advantage of being at home is to make the visiting team nervous, other NFC East teams tried (and still try) to get an edge on the Cowboys by forcing them to wear their dark blue jerseys when Dallas plays those teams in their home stadiums. It's not _really_ bad luck when they wear the dark jerseys - it's more an effort of the other teams to throw the Cowboys out of their comfort zone. ddlamb 04:28, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
Cheerleaders
Nothing here about the famous cheerleaders? PedanticallySpeaking 16:22, July 22, 2005 (UTC)
- I created an article for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. I added a "See also" section. I looked, and couldn't see any place it could be worked into the main body. --rob 09:09, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
- I just assumed there would be something, even a cross-reference here. I see from your edit to James T. Aubrey you found why I came to this article in the first place. PedanticallySpeaking 14:53, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

Not to be forgotten - suggestions
There are some really questionable players on the Not to be forgotten list, such as Quincy Carter and Joey Galloway. I just wanted to post a request for comments before removing them. Thanks.
PS: Half-joking and half-serious, I would love to add George Teague - even though he only played 4 yrs for us. He was the only Cowboy to defend the Star that day T.O. disrespected it.
- I agree, Carter and Galloway never did crap for us, so they don't belong on the list. I too would like to see Teague on there though, since that one action of blasting B.O. gave him more Cowboys immortality than some people that have played 10 years with the team, as evidenced by the fact that we're still talking about him here. I say, go with all the changes you mentioned.Tommstein 07:27, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- I think that players on "Not to be forgotten" should address players not fully covered in the main article, personally. -Tim Rhymeless (Er...let's shimmy) 10:11, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
I added Harvey Martin and Charlie Waters, two glaring oversights. If Cliff Harris is here, Waters needs to be here too, and I can't believe a Super Bowl XII co-MVP like Martin (with White) isn't anywhere on this list or in this article. Preston Pearson, Bob Breunig, and Butch Johnson deserve consideration also. On the other hand, at least Drew Pearson is here already; in this fan's opinion he deserves to be in ROH before Irvin. (Not _instead_ of Irvin - just before.) ddlamb 05:03, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
I updated and added biographies for a few players, plan to do more. I don't really like the fact that our Hall of Famers and "not forgotten" players are listed on the main page, but our Ring of Honor recipients are not. I had a hard time finding the link to the ROH page, so I tried to punch it up a bit. Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. --Timdstone 16:01, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I put together my list of suggestions and think maybe there should be a "Other noteworthy players" section. Cornell Green DB (4 time All Pro/5 time Pro Bowler at 2 positions!) Dexter Coakley LB (All Pro 99, 2 time Pro Bowler) Bob Breunig LB (3 time Pro Bowler) Frank Clarke WR (All Pro 64, first DC 1000 yd. receiver) Preston Pearson RB (NFL's 1st 3rd down specialist) Efren Herrera K (Cowboy's 1st All Pro/Pro Bowl Kicker) Rafeal Septien K (easily Cowboy's greatest kicker) Dave Manders C (first Cowboy O-Lineman in Pro Bowl) John Niland G (6 Pro Bowls) Ralph Neely T (2 Pro Bowls/4 time All Pro) Pat Donavan T (4 Pro Bowls) Herb Scott G (3 Pro Bowls/3 time All Pro) Then there here are some "other notables" Craig Morton QB Already has wiki bio as does Gary Hogeboom I'd move Alonzo Highsmith into this category --Timdstone 16:53, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Fan club sites
Is it really appropriate to put a bunch of independent fan club sites in the external links section? I would think this should be limited to the club's site and other "official" pages. Simishag 01:59, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- The policy on external links can be found on Misplaced Pages:External links. Fan sites are listed under "Maybe OK to add". Zzyzx11 (Talk) 02:41, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Conspiracy Theories
I just put up a section on the supposed anti-Dallas bias in the HoF. It's my first Misplaced Pages post, let me know what you guys think. I thought it was an appropriate note. Maybe it should be moved to the "Not Forgotten" section?
How about "Notable Moments"?
Because let's face it, fans - any Cowboys fan w/i the last ten years practically hold our hands over our hearts when George Teague is mentioned. We can argue if he's a NTBF candidate, but he's certainly a favorite.
Other suggestions: Leon Lett showboatting during Super Bowl XXVII, Jason Chris Boniol and his golden foot (7 field goals in a single game!- Billy Cundiff would match it) and...SCORING! IN! THE! SNOW! (gets all teary-eyed) Rattlerbrat 15:04, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- It seems that the addition you made suffers the same problem that National Football League lore#Honorable mentions and Super Bowl#Notable Super Bowl games suffer: What is the criteria for choosing which notable games to include here without making it POV or original research?
