"Ghetto"
Song

"Ghetto" is the second single from Senegalese singer/songwriter Akon's debut studio album, Trouble. The single was released on December 21, 2004, exclusively in Latin America and certain countries of Europe. The single peaked at #90 on the Billboard Hot 100. Akon describes the song's lyrics as "a description of the cycle of poverty experienced by those living in poor, inner-city areas. Additionally, it describes the physical and psychological oppression with which these residents must deal on a regular basis."

Music Video

A music video was produced to promote the single. The video was directed by Little X and was filmed in New Jersey.

International Remix

A music video for the International Remix, featuring Ali B and Yes-R, was directed by Winston Rodriguez.

Song information

Four official remixes of the song have been produced. The first is an International Remix, featuring Dutch rappers Ali B & Yes R, the second features additional vocals from 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G., sampling lyrics from from Ready to Die and track Smile (Scarface song), a third, featuring additional vocals from 2Pac, sampling lyrics from his track, Ghetto Gospel, and a Reggaeton remix, featuring additional vocals by Tego Calderón.
