Case School of Dental Medicine (CSDM) is one of the graduate schools of Case Western Reserve University. It is an American dental school located in Cleveland, Ohio. Case School of Dental Medicine is one of the top clinically oriented dental schools in the country, and has been ranked consistently high with its affiliated medical school. The class of 2014 had a mean GPA of 3.70 and a mean DAT of 20 (~90th percentile). 3326 applications for admission were received and 309 applicants were interviewed for 70 spots, with an acceptance rate at 2.1%.
In addition to the DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree, Case offers five specialty training programs: Endodontics, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatrics, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
General Information
Case School of Dental Medicine was organized in 1892 as the Dental Department of Western Reserve University. Since 1969 the facilities of the school of dentistry have been located in the Health Science Center of Case Western Reserve University adjacent to the schools of medicine and nursing and University Hospitals of Cleveland, Ohio. The School of Dental Medicine has conferred degrees on more than 4,200 graduates. Education in the basic sciences and technique, as well as preclinical laboratory work, is carried out by each student in an individually assigned area in the multidisciplinary laboratories. The 50,000- square foot dental clinic floor consists of two major clinics and five specialty clinics. The major clinics are made up of cubicles fully equipped as private operatories. Drawing from a population of more than one million people, the clinics provide a broad spectrum of care to the population, affording the student substantial clinic experience
The mission of the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine is to provide outstanding programs in oral health education, patient care, focused research and scholarship, and service that are of value to our constituents. We will accomplish this in an environment which fosters collegiality and professionalism, and that enables a diverse group of students to become competent practitioners of dentistry and contribute to the health and well-being of individuals and populations.
Curriculum
The Case School of Dental Medicine has created the new model for dental education. The new curriculum is grounded in principles that exemplify educational formats embracing experiential learning. Key features of our curriculum are: small group learning environment where students retain responsibility for learning; time allocated for independent study, integration of concepts and reflection; cornerstone experiences that integrate multiple content areas in powerful learning scenarios within the School and the larger community

DMD Program
4 year program leading to Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Master's Degree Programs
The programs in endodontics, orthodontics, and periodontics are master's degree programs (M.S.D.) with a certificate granted upon completion of the degree requirements.
M.D. and Certificate Programs The residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery is a joint program with the School of Medicine leading to the M.D. degree and certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
