POV ?

It should be noted however that both of these men are relatively unknown, minor figures whose statements seem to contradict the positions of both the English media and police regarding Dave's importance.

I have removed the above which followed on from the part of the article where Bernard O Mahoney and Frankie Fraser's views on Courtney are stated. The article might now not conform to NPOV but the above just does not stand up. Leaving aside O'Mahoney for a moment- Fraser was a major criminal. (The leading gangland figures in the 1960s were the Krays and Richardsons and Frankie Fraser was an 'enforcer' for the Richardsons) He started to write books and do media work 5 or 10 years before Courtney- and would have become quite well known to the public. Therefore his credentials for commenting on Courtney's standing and his profile would be quite good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.126.38.224 (talkcontribs)

Even O'Mahoney has a name, even if it has been more than a little smeared in recent years, he has been proven to be an associate of the essex boys- unlike Courtney who only appears matey with other celebrity naughty men. --193.61.159.26 (talk) 20:06, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

No record of him being in prison, plus not a real villain

Charlie Bronson has confirmed that he met Courtney while in prison. Also the only known villain who didn't stick by Courtney is Frankie Fraser. The majority took Courtney’s side. Plus Frankie Fraser is now very unpopular among criminals for exaggerating the truth.

Also he has always stated that he is not an associate of the Krays the police just labelled him that. He only met the Krays when they were banged up and they did form a good friendship. And there is every proof that he organised Ronnie Krays funeral. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.126.69 (talkcontribs)

Nobody has denied Dave has served time. What is the main dispute, according O'Mahoney & Fraser, is that he has embellished his criminal history. He claims, at one time, that he was prosecuted for attempted murder but his detractors say it was only minor assault. He did run the security for Ron Kray's funneral but there were rumours that his men took liberties whilst guarding the body at the undertakers. Whatever he was not even invited to the other Kray funerals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.250.71 (talkcontribs)
I love this bit above.. "'is men took liber'ies". You can just hear some cockney cunt saying it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.213.57.216 (talk) 15:36, 11 January 2007 (UTC).
There are photos of him at Reggie's and Charlie's funerals. So, I think that is proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.117.77 (talkcontribs)
It was proof that he was in the vicinity that's all. Another guy, forgotten his name, arranged the security. Roberta, Reggie's widow, refused to invite alot of his former criminal associates to the funeral. The likes of Freddie Foreman were put out and were annoyed about not been asked to be pallbearers. Some of them turned up anyway and hung around the chingford cemetary giving interviews and things but they had to arrange their own wake at a different pub. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.253.90 (talkcontribs)

It is certain for sure the man is a fake. A walter mitty. nothing more. Also waht claim to fame is it to pretend to be hard. Pathetic. Most cons I know regret the life they lead not boast about it. Laughable.

No sign

There is no sign of the bitting off of the nose, even in detailed photos. D.C. has never been prosecuted for murder in any part of the world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.4.21 (talkcontribs)

Claims

Courtney claims to have left a notice outside his cell when leaving for Court, saying "No DSS, no dogs". Anyone doing this would be severely punished. Anyway, there is no time for this when going to Court in the morning, with a guard watching. He claims to have used an obscene defence in the trial, but would have been prosecuted for contempt of Court if he had. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.108.136 (talkcontribs)

I wish someone would expose him for being a complete fraud. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.213.57.216 (talk) 15:38, 11 January 2007 (UTC).
He does appear to be a bit of a fantasist. To be fair, he has carved a nice little career for himself and more fool the mugs that buy his books and believe what he says. But, like many people contributing to this page, I come from that background and whenever his name is mentioned the response is always "Dave who?" No-one had ever heard of him at all until the books started coming out.--Twizzlemas 20:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Rancid

Any mention of the Rancid song, "David Courtney", from the Indestructable album? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.101.23.128 (talkcontribs)

Birth certificate

It is very hard to find a record of the birth of David Courtney or Walter C. Brown in England or Wales with any date near 1958. It is possible that he was born in Scotland or elsewhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.202.155 (talk) 10:13, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Dave Courtney's birth might have been recorded under a third name or not at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.160.202.155 (talk) 10:42, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Ref. 10

Reference 10 refers to "gang-land hit men", not unarmed police officers. It, the collision with stationary objects, sounds like lousy driving, possibly caused by not being sober. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 14:54, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

The hit men might be police at the same time. I am getting sick of Dave Courtney. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 16:01, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
The phrase "unarmed police officers" might be a mistake for "plain-clothes police", if they existed at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.244.167 (talk) 16:26, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
