In August, 1946, members of the Jewish underground (Irgun) led by Menachem Begin in the British Mandate of Palestine exploded a bomb at the King David Hotel where the British military command and the British Criminal Investigation Division were based. 91 people were killed. Most of the victims were members of the British administration. 15 Jews were killed.
