Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Replacing the flag with an unrelated photo thinking the latter is illegal. NYMets2000 (talk) 21:57, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Renewed expired protection as the same problems have continued. Taelus (talk) 22:32, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

    Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Protection: IPs removing sourced information, with one flat out vandalizing it. Sarujo (talk) 21:48, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Declined Vandalism is low volume, edit war is slow more recently, and the edit war won't be stopped by semi-protection. If the edit war continues report to WP:ANEW, i'd prefer it be solved there than lock down the whole article. Taelus (talk) 22:29, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

    Yasmine Bleeth (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IPs persistently misusing Cats as unsourced edits today. Shearonink (talk) 21:00, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Low volume of vandalism, use of revert tool is preferred. Relist if the problems continue and/or volume of vandalism increases. Taelus (talk) 22:22, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (film) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full-protection. This is a redirect under discussion at Misplaced Pages:Redirects for discussion#Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (film). The fate of the page will be decided after a week but editors still persist in changing the redirect. Can we have the page full-protected for a week to cover the discussion period because it should maintain the state that it was submitted to the RfD under. Betty Logan (talk) 20:01, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Technically the person breaking the rule of "Bold, Revert, Discuss" here is you. You made a bold change, you got reverted, started a discussion, then continued reverting. Remember, its BRD, not BRDRRRRRRR. I won't handle this request however as I am very slightly involved, as I added a disambig link to the target based on your change. --Taelus (talk) 22:13, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Edit warring by rapidly changing dynamic IPs against clear consensus and calls to discuss at TP. RashersTierney (talk) 21:38, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Harold Pinter (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotect. The article and the talk page should not be protected simultaneously. The article Harold Pinter has been "indefinitely" (permanently) "semi-protected" for a very extended period of time, despite the fact that the article is not subject to recent or current vandalism. The talk page should not be protected at all and the reason given is not a legitimate reason for protecting an article talk page. There are serious archiving problems currently still existing in the talk page, leading to a loss of over a year of talk page content, including the most recent discussions pertaining to errors in the article pertaining to a recent "featured article" review; the entire period of time between March 2009 and July 2011 is missing from the talk page archives. Please see discussion with explanation of problems in over a year of talk page material lost due to archiving bot errors and errors that need correction in the article: User talk:Moondyne#Improper administrative action: simultaneous protection of both Talk: Harold Pinter and Harold Pinter. If that section is archived or deleted, please consult the editing history of both Talk:Harold Pinter and User talk:Moondyne; some of the "mis-archived" material was archived by a bot at Talk:Harold Pinter/Archive7, which is not listed in the archive box (perhaps, with material that Moondyne subsequently deleted, the archived material and later material should be "moved" from the editing history to "Talk:Harold Pinter/archive8"?) Moondyne deleted the restored material from the talk page (see editing history) and edited the bot; but it does not currently function correctly still, as explained to him earlier and today; due to his protecting the talk page, this request and the section on his talk page are the only way to point to these problems. Jezhotwells' "typo" correction following my post on Moondyne's talk page does not rectify these problems, and he has not corrected his and others' many errors of content and format throughout Harold Pinter. Due to various changes during the "featured article" review process, he and other editors need to verify the source citations for every sentence in the body of the article and to restore crucial missing source citations and some content in the lead. Thank you. --66.66.27.196 (talk) 23:16, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

    Super Mario 3D Land (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection: Now that the official name is announced, move protection can removed from this and Super Mario 3D. (My last RPP request for unprotection was accepted and marked as done, but the protection remained.). Nathan2055 19:28, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Unprotect. This was indef protected on December 6 in response to what was, frankly, limited vandalism. Whatever the merit of the indef protection, it is now time to lift it. I have asked the protecting admin but, though he has been on 3 times since, he hasn't responded. The Whispering Wind (talk) 17:43, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Semi-protection Persistent edit warring by IPs, who do not wish to follow the consensus established on the article's format (from what I can tell. I'm not really involved in the issue; I just want a stable article back). --Dorsal Axe 08:27, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

This is an on-going problem that's been going for around 2 years at this point. The season here is just starting to get back into the swing of things and every time they release an english news article, he's going to be back jamming it into every article he can find, the same as he's done for years.--Crossmr (talk) 11:04, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

    Brian Blessed (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
