South Dublin is an area of County Dublin in the Republic of Ireland which was created on January 1st 1994 alongside two other bodies to replace the old Dublin County Council . The main area is south of the River Liffey and Dublin City and covers large areas of Tallaght . South Dublin has full administrative county status.
Other important urban centres include Clondalkin , Lucan , Palmerstown , Rathcoole , Saggart and Templeogue . The county is bordered by County Kildare and County Wicklow in addition to the three other local authority areas in Dublin.
