Metalliko (Template:Lang-el, meaning 'mineral'; Macedonian Slavic: Јанешево, Janeševo; Template:Lang-bg, Yaneshevo) is a settlement in the city of Kilkis, in northern Greece, located west of downtown. In 2001 the settlement's population was 372. The village is named after its nearby spring which is a Greek word for mineral, named in the mid-20th century. Metalliko is located south of Doirani and Dojran in the Republic of Macedonia, Sidirokastro, north of Thessaloniki, east of Goumenissa and southeast of Gevgelija (Republic of Macedonia).

Geography
Its geography consists of farmlands in the area, forest and mountains elsewhere.
History
In ancient times (12th century BC), Phrygians founded the town Vragylos in the place where Metalliko lays now. Vragylos decayed during the Roman times. The area was ruled by the Ottomans until the Balkan Wars of 1913. It was inhabited by Turks, Bulgarians and Greeks at that time. It became a part of Greece in 1913 and was then settled by Greek refugees from Asia Minor and people from other parts of Greek Macedonia, many of them arrived during the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922). After World War II and the Greek Civil War, many of its buildings were rebuilt. Some of its residents moved to other parts of Greece and North America
Many of the inhabitants of Metalliko were followers of the Greek Communist Party during the civil war which followed the Second World War.
The area around Metalliko was struck by forest fires in late July 2007. They lasted several days and caused significant destruction in houses and property.
