Hi Martin, i see you are British i hope you can answer this question. I don't know whether i'm using British Eng. or American Eng. I want to ask it to you. This is one of my contributions, you can look life and career part. I add that part.--Ugur Basak 09:52, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I had a look at the section you asked for, it seems someone else has already made a few minor changes to the grammar, which would be similar to the ones I would have made. I've made a few more minor updates for grammar and readibility, hope that helps. Regards, MartinRe 10:03, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Martin. Does my edition looks like British or American english? --Ugur Basak 10:10, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a difference in this case. It's only some words that are different between British and American, eg. Color/Colour, but none of those type of words appear. About the only thing that might be different is the date, Americans would write the date as April 12, 1972, but as the article is about a turkish person, it should follow the turkish standard, so is fine as it is. Regards, MartinRe 10:22, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Martin, if there is a question about Turkey related articles i'll try to help. Regards --Ugur Basak 10:33, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Re: Mehmed
I've waited for my friend to give me a source, but she is busy nowadays and she is interested after 18th cent. Anyway she said, "he can be Serbian". But i searched it in encyclopedia, in dictionnaire larousse's Turkish editon's it says "Sokoloviç adlı Boşnak bir papazın oğluydu" "He was son of a Bosnian priest named Sokolovic". I hope this helps --Ugur Basak 15:19, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that's useful, Ugur Basak; thanks! The main issue was whether he should be considered a Bosniak (please see the article). Cheers! --HolyRomanEmperor 22:40, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Ugur. I am Emir from Bosnia. I have seen your comment in Holy's talk page. You said: "But i searched it in encyclopedia, in dictionnaire larousse's Turkish editon's it says "Sokoloviç adlı Boşnak bir papazın oğluydu" "He was son of a Bosnian priest named Sokolovic". Can you tell me some more information about the edition of that encyclopedia, because it is very relevant source. Bosniak historians also say that according to Turkish documents Mehmed-pasha is considered as Bosniak. Thanks in advance.--Emir Arven 20:55, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Emir, Dictionnaire Larousse's Turkish editon volume 6 page 2165 "Sokullu Mehmet Paşa". About print date, (orginal edition) Larousse 1993 and (turkish edition) Milliyet 1993-1994. This is all i can found. I hope this helps

Thank you for your support in my request for adminship. I'm delighted that the RfA succeeded with a final consensus of 52/17/7, and receiving comments including having 'excellent potential to become a great moderator', and I am now an administrator. It did however only just pass, and I shall do my very best to rectify any of my errors, including the general belief that I should do more article work. If you have any concerns, or if you ever feel that I may be able to help you, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Again, thank you!

Thank you! Thank you for your support in my recent RFA. It passed 53/1/2 and I am now an administrator. I appreciate that some of you made exceptions to your usual requirements re length of service and so on because we've interracted positively in the past, or because of my credentials, so I will endeavour to use my new mop cautiously. Hi Dijxtra, if i dont count wrong. Your bot message to 31 users but 43 users has voted for Roma people. --Ugur Basak 11:16, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

- interesting, those unicode is really problem in every part of programming. Your bot is really help this AID. Cheers--Ugur Basak 11:35, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Azeri
Hi Zereshk, i want to ask a personal question. How Azeris in Iran define themselves? Turkic or Iranian. You are good in drawing. Who is this "Anime by nima" ?--Ugur Basak 09:16, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Greetings,
- The Azeris in Iran think of themselves as ethnically Azeri, but also Iranian as well, no doubt. Think of Texas: they are proud of being recognized as discreet and separate ("the lone star state", the "Republic of Texas"), and yet they want to be American as well.
- See Tabriz's page. Tabriz has always been one of the most patriotic Iranian cities in history. There are more Nationalist Iranian revolutionaries from Tabriz than any other Iranian city in recent history (except Tehran of course. But even then, you'd be surprised at the number of Azeris even in Tehran :) ).
- But then again, we like our Azeri-ness to be recognized too.
- BTW, I'd love to visit Turkey one day. Gotta see the Dervishes. :)--Zereshk 11:45, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- There are many Iranian tourists visiting Turkey especially İstanbul. There is an Azeri users on Azeri wikipedia. He is not so active but one of the first Azeri speaking users and helped there. But as he said, he is Iranian Azeri and not good at in Azeri language. In your user page there is no mention about Azeri language. Will the number of Azeri language speakers decreasing in Iran ? --Ugur Basak 12:00, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- The answer to your question is: I dont think so. Azeri language will not disappear. Even though people like me are (unfortunately) losing their Azeri heritage as time goes by (and my aunts hate me for this), but the number of Azeris in Iran is simply too large to be diminished. And Azeris (unlike many other minorities in Iran) are well integrated into the social economy. They are prosperous and hold high posts. It's pretty normal to hear Azeri in the streets of Tehran. The ideal situation would be if we had something like Switzerland going on in Iran. Take care.--Zereshk 12:08, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- After all there are about 3 times more Azeri people living in Iran than Azerbaycan. Take care --Ugur Basak 12:16, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello
Greetings: I've found another source on Mehmet in Turkish: could you please translate crucial bits of it: , also, what does the heading mean: Sırp Vatanseveri Osmanlı Veziri? Could you also translate: Kökeni Bosnalı bir Sırp olan Sokollu Mehmet Paşa and Sırp asıllı Sadrazam Sokollu Mehmet Paşa’nın önünden geçip. Don't hurry - just do it when you've got time and inform me. I would be very grateful, fellow-wikipedian. Much thanks in advance, truthfully, --HolyRomanEmperor 20:07, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and sokolovic kasabasından alınma bir devsirme. aslen sırp olması ve olduren insanın bosnak olması ilginctir. if possible, please. --HolyRomanEmperor 20:08, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi; the links heading Sırp Vatanseveri Osmanlı Veziri means Serbian patriot Ottoman Vizier the text is a abstract of a book as you can see written by Radovan Samarçiç. It's about, Sokollo's hidden Serbian patriotism.
- Second one: Kökeni Bosnalı bir Sırp olan Sokollu Mehmet Paşa means Sokollu Mehmet Paşa's origins are a Bosnian Serb.
- Third one: Sırp asıllı Sadrazam Sokollu Mehmet Paşa’nın önünden geçip. means Serbian origined grand vizier Sokollu Mehmet Paşa's "önünden geçip" I can't translate önünden geçip part because sentence is not complete, it can have different meanings.
- Last one: sokolovic kasabasından alınma bir devsirme. aslen sırp olması ve olduren insanın bosnak olması ilginctir means He is a devshirmeh taken from Sokolovic town. Despite his Serbian origin and to be killed by a Bosnian (is interesting)
- I guess you found last one from sourtimes.org. It's not well controlled site, any user (not everyone can be a user) write anything even feelings about anyone. Not %100 accurate and also sentences are not in good form. So translation also meanings are difficult to understand. Also i've found one more thing on that site, again not cited. hırvatlığı veya sırplığı tartışmalıdır. means his Croatian and Serbian origins are controversial
- in this site he is mentioned as Croatian. Hirvat kökenli Sokullu Mehmet Pasa.
- Hir origins is really controversial --Ugur Basak 22:57, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Ugur, very much! Tell me, please, is there a difference between Boşnak and Bosnalı? --HolyRomanEmperor 22:23, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- About Boşnak and Bosnalı. In Turkish we use both words for every nation. Türk and Türkiyeli etc. Boşnak means Bosnian people (mostly for ethnically) and Bosnalı has two meanings; one who is living in Bosnia (Bosnian citizen) and other Bosnian people.--Ugur Basak 22:37, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Tell me, in that ecyclopedia that you mentioned earlier, what of the two was it reffering to (ethnicity or inhabitant)? --HolyRomanEmperor 22:57, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sokoloviç adlı Boşnak bir papazın oğluydu in this text writer uses Boşnak, as explanied above. Sentence is about Bosnian ethnicity--Ugur Basak 23:02, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Hey Dijxtra, you've removed Homer Simpson. But it says till March 25 Cheers.--Ugur Basak 12:12, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- OK, this is wierd. I'm very, very sorry, I don't know how this happened. I remember that the bot reported that the nomination expired and I didn't check, I don't know why... damn, I'm realy terrified now, I don't know how that happened... sorry, I'm sure it won't happen again :-( --Dijxtra 17:29, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- I hope it won't happen again, cause i have to RFC on you :). Afterall you are working for AID. Good luck--Ugur Basak 20:15, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- No, look, I don't have anything against Homer Simpson. In fact, he's one of my favourite cartoon characters, this was just a pure mistake. We all err, an error can happen to everybody :-) Don't take it so seriously. If I had anything against Homer, I'd state that somewhere and try to discuss things. I don't think this mistake of mine is so great that it deserves mentioning of RfC... I did many nice things on wikipedia and not one bad thing. It's not as if I did that 5 times... --Dijxtra 21:20, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Dijxtra, i've found an error:) I hope you don't get angry, because i only talk to you on this subjects. I don't know how it happened but AIDBot removed last nominee. Btw this RFC thing is just a joke:) I hope you don't take it serios. Take care--Ugur Basak 09:39, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

History of Turkey
Uğur, bir şuna bak History of Greece, bir şuna History of Armenia, birde buna History of Turkey. Rezalet. Osmanlının en büyük mirasçısı Türkiye Cumhuriyeti değilde kim? Anadolu Selçuklularının mirasçısı kim? Türkiye Cumhuriyeti mantar gibimi bitti yani Anadoluda?
Adam akıllı bir History of Turkey sayfası ve series hazırlamak, Ottoman Empire, Seljuk Turks (yada Seljuks of Rum) sayfalarıyla birbirine bağlamak lazım.
Sen yapmaya başla, ben her türlü arkandayım. Kolay gelsin.--Kagan the Barbarian 11:42, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Ugur Basak 11:52, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
İyi fikir, proje olursa mercek görevi görür, oraya odaklanır herkes. Önce History of Turkey sayfasını elden geçirmek lazım, sonra oradan bağlantı verilecek Seljuks of Rum, Anatolian beyliks vs. sayfaları elden geçirilmeli.
--Ugur Basak 13:32, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Re: Ottoman Empire
Ben de orada oy verdim Ottoman Empire'a; artık sadece 1 tane oy lazım yanılmıyorsam.
Ugur Basak 14:12, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
