Psi Sigma Phi (ΨΣΦ) Multicultural Fraternity was founded December 12, 1990 at Montclair State University and New Jersey City University. It is the nation's first fraternity founded under the ideal of multicultural membership. The Eighteen Founding Fathers established Psi Sigma Phi as a service oriented multicultural organization. Multiculturalism is not indicative of the physical composition of an organization on a chapter or national level; it is a state of mind-a philosophy that embraces any and all aspects of cultural identity with unconditional respect and equality. The organization is currently undergoing rapid expansion, as it begins to spread across the U.S.
History
The founding fathers of Psi Sigma Phi understood that simply accepting all cultures does not equal embracing them and in a highly interdependent and hyphenated society, they needed an organization that embraced multiculturalism.
