Hal Stratton was appointed chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2002 by President Bush. Stratton's current term expires in October of 2006.

Stratton, an Oklahoma native, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma Law School. He served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from 1979 to 1986, where he was on the Judiciary Committee and the Energy and Natural Resources Commission.
