- Claudius Ptolemaeus (circa 90-circa 168), also known as Ptolemy - an author, geographer, mathematician, astronomer and astrologer who lived in the Greek culture of Roman Egypt. His legacy included the Ptolemaic system to describe the heavens.
- Ptolemy son of Lagus (367 BC-283 BC) - a Macedonian general and close companion of Alexander the Great, later ruler of Egypt as Ptolemy I Soter and founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty.
- The names of the kings of the Ptolemaic dynasty, of Macedonian origin, which ruled Hellenistic Egypt from 305 BC to 30 BC.
