Location

Okinawa Shogaku High School is located in the southern part of Okinawa island, one of the prefectures of Japan. The school, which is called "Okisho," lies in the Kokuba district which is in the southern part of Naha city.

The school's tuition is very expensive compared to other schools. Because it is a private school, its expenses are four times that of other schools in the area.

International Department of Humanities and Sciences

Okinawa Shogaku High School has a class called the international course that supports students who wants to go to college abroad. The difference between the international course and other classes is that the international courses have more English classes.

Okinawa Shogaku High School employs several native English speakers every year as part of an effort to improve its English curriculum and expose students to an international atmosphere. Many of these teachers come from Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota, USA.

Athletics

Okinawa Shogaku High School has a baseball team which has participated in the "Kōshien" (the all-Japan high school baseball tournament) three times and won the tournament in 1999. The championship was the first ever first-place finish by an Okinawan team.

The school also has a basketball club which is a more active club than many others.
