The word Angakuei originated from the word "kuei", which in English means 'eagle'. Thus Angakuei refers to people from the clan called Kuei. The Angakuei clan is in Baidit payam, Jonglei state. Abel Alier the first president for southern Sudan government is from the Angakuei clan.
